I like the general setup, not too dissimilar to mine, surprised not too see any of the cheap melbourne mids in tyson/michie. The backline looks a little light on for top premiums, 4 guys at 400k+ and personally I onlg have one of them in my top 6 scorinb predictions for the year.

not convinced by mithcell or mcveigh i see them droping back to about 100 average and scott thompson went 98 so i think he can compete with them.

Hanley 95-100 so pretty close and waters is pretty cheap but im looking to move him on for a super premo or ideally down to a rookie.

Tyson will probably be in my squad if named round 1. just need some cash.

So Holz, are you saying you won't be paying top dollar for Mcveigh and Mitchell but will look for players that have improvement in them such as Hanley/Thompson? Why are you looking to move on Waters?

Sorry for the questions, just intrigued! :)

becuase guys like hanley are priced 10 points below mcveigh mitchell etc.. but i think they will average within 3 of the top 6.

So having a 98 average back instead of a 101 average back at the end of the year wont hurt me too much.

Waters maybee could average 90 so thats 11 under a true top 6 back and thats too much and will either need him to be D7 or trade him out.

If fit Waters will average 95+ think he has plenty to offer, only $402k which is about $100k under what he should be priced at

Especially with his draw leading up to the byes

I might get Waters for D5 or D4. Depending on which one you think Suckers is.

ROSYS BEER NUTS

Looks like a very solid team Holz.
Dont like the Waters pick given the talent to chose from in backline that can pull 20-22 games together. D Swallow is a similar price and might find more mid field time this year..?
I have Suckling as well, but am very concerned that he may score only 60-70 ave as he is not a major ball winner.
I see Hanley and Rocky being open to serious attention this year, and given the changing roles within the Bris outfit, who knows how much of the ball they may find..?
Im not seeing complete value in Thomas yet either, although everything lines up for him to find the ball (Health, Malthouse etc..) but he has recovered from a major injury, started at a new club and has fan/media/supporters pressure to deal with.. Ill pass.
I have Nic Nat too, are we concearned about vest time for the big guy early considering the easier start for the Eagles.?
All rooks TBC obviously.

had a thought about it and not liking sandi i the mids and im worried about clarke. did something drastic and dropped pendles but i dont mind how the team is looking

Kade Simpson, Scott D. Thompson, Pearce Hanley, Beau Waters, Matt Suckling, Luke McDonald
Darcy Gardiner, James Battersby

Gary Ablett jnr, Tom Rockliff, Dayne Beams, Dale Thomas, Jack Martin, Dom Tyson, Xavier Ellis, Luke Dunstan
Blake Acres, Matt Crouch

Nic Naitanui, Todd Goldstein
Daniel Currie, Sam Naismith

Patrick Dangerfield, Dustin Martin, Jarryd Roughead, Lance Franklin, Jesse Hogan, Nathan Bock
Shane Kersten, Daniel Markworth

strong starting backline to reflect the few rookie options. Weak midfield but plenty of mid rookies to choose from and im only starting 2 "rookie" Martin and Dunstan. Set and Forget ruckline. Pretty strong forward line only starting one rookie.

This is the approach I've taken to make my teams. My mids aren't strong but I'm happy with the rest of the team. Like you said there's plenty of mid rookies to choose from, plus there will also be a lot of mids to choose from when upgrading compared to the other positions. The only concern I have about doing this is that if one of the non-mids are out for some reason, then it will probably lose us more points (weak mids + poor def cover). Guess it comes down to risk/reward in the end.
