#23 Josh Caddy - Geelong Cats

requested by kilbluff1985

Name: Josh Caddy
Age: 21 years, 1 month
Team: Geelong
Position: Midfield (very decent chance for M/F dpp)
Bye: Round 8

2013 Low: 51
2013 High: 100
2013 Average: 60.3
2013 unsubbed average: 73.2
2013 Pre-Bye Average: 38.5
2013 Post-Bye Average: 73.4

Fanplanner Price: $322,600

Predicted average: 80-85ppg

Verdict: His 4th year in the system but in his 3rd he was just fitting in at a new club, I think Caddy is primed for a breakout season and should see more midfield time with the departures of Corey and Chapman. If he gets dpp (which i think he should) he should be seriously considered, would make a very nice POD.

Definently a big contender to break out. He was superb when he came on in the Preliminary final.

Why would he get DPP status when he spent the entire year in the middle?

He has no chance of getting DPP just because a midfielder starts forward a couple times (4 if judging by that link) doesnt mean they earn DPP.

Swan and Selwood spend more time up forward than Caddy why not give them DPP too

Caddy is a huge chance to earn DPP. He definitely spent enough time forward this year to justify it.

Fremantle, R24 - Duffield on him - Pretty sure Duffield is a defender.
Brisbane, R23 Caddy added 2 grabs and kicked 2.3 - 5 scoring shots indicates that he played forward.
Sydney, R22 17 possessions starting forward again
West Coast, R21 Started as a sub - Sub games have less weighting when determining positions.
Pt Adelaide, R20 1.1 from 18 possessions and 4 marks on Broadbent - Broadbent played most of the year in defence.
North Melb., R19 16 touches and 4 tackles with 5 marks - Probably mid only
St Kilda, R18 19 possessions and 3 tackles with 3 marks - Probably mid only
Adelaide, R17 3.0 from 18 possessions and 2 marks starting forward on Henderson
Melbourne, R16 22 disposals and 7 tackles with 3 marks... also 2.1 and 2 FA. Tagging Nathan Jones - Mid only.
Hawthorn, R15 1.1 from 16 disposals and 7 marks starting forward on Hodge.
Fremantle, R14 0.1 from 16 possessions and 8 tackles starting forward on Duffield
Collingwood, R8 Late replacement for Steve Johnson. Caddy also had kicked 0.2 - Possibly playing md/fwd
W. Bulldogs, R5 7 disposals - Played forward and did sweet FA
Sydney, R4 On after 3QT for Smedts. Started as a sub.
Carlton, R3 On in Q2 for Varcoe... 11 possessions and 2 marks with 2 tackles. Started as a sub.

3 sub games
8 games forward
4 games mid

Yeah I think he's a chance, he played up forward a bit. If he does I'd consider him at that price. Nice work Speck  :)

Wow I had no idea he was a shot for DPP - nice pick up specksta!

Would definitely consider him if he does get it as I also think he's a sneaky chance of a breakout! Would help out in WXV as well :P

GEELONG youngster Josh Caddy is putting plenty of pressure on himself as he eyes off the upcoming season.

The 21-year-old, who joined the Cats from Gold Coast in the 2012 player exchange period, notched 18 games last year, including the heartbreaking preliminary final loss to Hawthorn.

Caddy was used mostly across half-forward, but he has set his sights on becoming a regular fixture in the midfield this season.

"I want to step up a lot this year and become more of a Geelong player, rather than being a bloke who's in the 22 but isn't really a big player in the side," he said after the club's open training session at Simonds Stadium on Monday morning.

"I want to become a bit more of a presence out there. I've got a lot to improve on this year, hopefully I can.
