Yeah I am not taking any NAB cup games into account for bringing in new players into my squad but more so to monitor by absolute locks in case something causes me to get rid of them for example injuries, change of role etc.

Just monitor the role, if he is playing midfield and doing a good job than jump on.

I would have to be pretty impresses to be honest plus it also depends if I can afford him. The squad I have right now seems unaffordable! :P

To me it all depends on his preseason, and it would need to be pretty bloody good for him to be selected v other players of similar $'s.    :-\ :-\

I'll be watching him very closely, if he plays pre season all through the guts which seems likely, I'll lock him in. He has heaps of talent but has struggled with the no.1 "tag" as well as not finding a proper role, and argubly poor coaching. Yeh he has under performed to this stage but I think we will see the best of Watts in 2014.

I just cant see this guy turning it around to be honest.
Paul Roos is trying to turn him into something he's not, which is fair enough, he was a #1 draft pick after all and they are desperate to make a footballer out of him but I dont think he will last as a midfielder.
The question is, what happens to him after this? They have played him in just about every position except the ruck  :o
Will that be career over for Watts?

Tough one this

has the talent but is a lazy footballer imo

big NAB watch but i can't really be inspired with Dee players (and i go for them, much as it depresses me)

I doubt it would mean the end of his career, people will just realise he'll never live up to the number 1 tag and forget about him. He'd probably play out the rest of his career in a forward pocket/flank role, occasionally starring but going unnoticed most of the time. But here's hoping Roos can make something of him and we don't have to think about that :)

We'll take him over here :D

In all honesty though, he has the talent to live up to his #1 pick status. His development has been severely hindered over the years while Melbourne sorted their shower out. Not sure if 2014 is the year for Watts but we will see drastic improvement under Roos

Jroo

I'm considering him.
Was very close to picking him last year.

So you dodged a major bullet and are still considering going back there?

Forget that he's a number 1 draft pick, let's pretend he was pick 50... He's still shower. He's shower for any type of footballer at any angle you look at it. People seem to think that because he was a number 1 pick he's just destined to come good. Sometimes they just get it wrong. Richard tambling anyone?

I still think Tambling will be a star  :P
I think Roos could bring out the best in him, well I hope so.

Haha tamblings just retired. Maybe he will make a heart warming return to Richmond at some stage and fulfill his destiny? Haha.

I don't question that roos will get the best out of him.i certainly think he will but I don't think his best is as good as people think it will be. He just isn't that good of a footballer.

Haha I know, I just always thought he had what it takes to make it as an AFL player and I didnt mind him. I'd love for him to come back to Richmond haha  :-*
I can see where you're coming from, tbh I'm not sure I'll actually pick Watts, but I'll be watching. I kinda wished I picked him this year, so then I would've put him on my blacklist and never picked him again  :P
