Surprised so many locking in Grundy... Too pricey for a cash cow and surely you can't expect a kid in his second year to pump out a premo average.

who said we are expecting him to have a premo average? i just think is a safer pick then Sandi or HMAC
But then why pick him to post up average scores?

Because I have no faith in Sandi playing a full season they will rest him any chance they get even if a little bit sore to get him to the finals they have Clarke and Eventually Griffin, Sandi is a bonus they will hardly need until finals just saying they won't risk him or push his limits so is not for me
Your missing my point. Grundy presents hardly any value at all. He's a kid going into his second year. He won't pump premo scores out and won't make enough money to be a cash cow. If you don't like Sandi or Hmac your better off either going to a rookie or up to a premo

Have to agree, not that I have to agree but when you get right down to it Rico is dead right.

Thiiiiiiiiiiiis. I really don't why so many people plan on starting Grundy

Hardest line imo. Hickey the one I will be watching Sandi also, Big Nic will be on all lips if fit, something about Goldy I don't like not really sure why. Berger would be my No1 if we picked now!

Noz

Hickey will be the number 1 man at Saints to start the season so he may be worth a look seeing as he can play a bit up front as well, Longer ended the season very well in the NEAFL and hopefully that form can carry on. Saints will probably play both of them every game.

Considering Goldy was tiring towards the end and new interchange cap will this mean Currie and Goldy both play?

More likely to be Daw since he can play up forward too. Is Daw still injured?

Yeh Daw would be the likely one agree.

Great idea JROO.  I think at the worst, Sandi will make us money. Only has to play the 1st half dozen games to perhaps double his price. HMac will need a good preseason to come in to consideration for me. And a fit Nicnat would pick himself. Would love a F/R interchange of prems but will wait til the price is right. Heard some nice things about McBean and looking forward to his arrival, might be ever so slightly biased being a Tiger supporter since turning 5 yrs old. Bloody hell that was a long time ago. Cheers and all the best JR    ;)

And that is where people are forgetting. Yeah sure they have Clarke and Griffin but Griffin is coming off an acl so I wouldn't expect they'd rush him, as they have two good premium rucks. If Sandi is to be rested it will be the second half of the year when they start getting into finals. No point having a fit Sandi not playing in the first half of the year, well just cause. They'll manage him but he'll be good for a 90-100avg and if his finals are anything to go by maybe even 105+. Think there is more to Sandi then there is to Grundy as Grundy won't get many points at all through hit outs and the only way he'd be good for an 85 average is if he can find touches at ground level and we're talking 20 touches at least for that. There is more value with Sandi than there is with Minson/Goldstein IMO also. You're paying an extra $260k for what an extra 10-15 points?  You may get the points early but that could easily be accounted for with that extra premium in the Mids etc. Rucks are fairly consistent so to have a Mid or high scoring defender that has a high ceiling and can smash out 120+ where rucks sometimes find that difficult is my reasoning to not spend as much in the rucks.
I also remember last year when I chose to set and forget and it was the worst decision I ever made. Set and forget with premiums that will end up the top 6/8 etc on each line or else go with mid prices or rookies who show good value.

My plan is to upgrade Sandi come byes so ill upgrade to Mnson/Goldy before or after his bye.

I think he'll go 85+
I agree and am starting him. Another pre-season, he's just gonna get better the kid can play.

It is quite possible, he is a good. But the thing is, he is a kid. Far too risky if you are going for overall. Guns and rookies only! ;)

despite the value avilable im thinking NN Goldy lock and load.
Not sure why NN is a lock at this stage - he needs to improve a bit for me!

Ricochet

Improve? He had no preseason and an injury interrupted year. Year before he went 113...
