@ Nige I'd describe Iceage as post-punk/rock. But I suck at picking genres for stuff. Pumped to hear you're getting into RTJ. :-* Everything about RTJ2 was incredible, and All Due Respect was no exception, the LP had the catchiest hooks of the year.

Yeah dude, I loved them! I've literally been playing RTJ every day without fail.

I've heard of this guy, but never listened to his stuff before. I really enjoyed this! I think I'll check out the rest of his stuff now, might have somebody new to listen to, yay!  :D

Pickles From The Jar - Courtney Barnett

Heard this song in the Hottest 100 and loved it!

Yep, Courtney Barnett is always solidly enjoyable. It's interesting, I usually find Australian accents to be disguised a lot in singers, but she has whatever our version of a southern drawl is. A Sea Of Split Peas is worth checking out if you enjoyed that, it is much the same.
Not the most provocative music, but there is a comfort in it that I find lacking with a lot of the more angsty punk/independent work that is popular right now.

One of my all time favourite songs, Hannah Hunt - Vampire Weekend. Strange to see a song like this where the message is presented through narrative (and it's not a concept album), and it even links in beautifully with a track from their previous LP 'Contra'.
This shower blew my mind when I first read the lyrics. Ezra is my ultimate man crush.

Yeah, I'm not usually a fan of hearing an accent in a song, which is why I largely hate country music. Jamie T is the same, his British accent is so prominent, but his style of singing and whatnot makes it bearable and worth listening.

Favourite song off what is (probably) my favourite album of 2013  :-*

Ezra's twitter account is absolutely on point too haha.

Next up, still buzzing after seeing these guys live at Laneway festival yesterday:
Ratking - Snow Beach

lovin this thread, discovering new artists 8)

It's very literal, I usually appreciate more interpretive or subtle meanings, but that's probably just my snobbiness.
The production lacked the dynamism and punchiness that I usually opt for as well.
Still a solid track though.

Ezra is pretty prominent on tumblr as well. The guy is a sophisticated lunatic. Kind of epitomises VW though. :P

This is the new hotness from Panda Bear. Hopefully AC/Avey Tare have new stuff in progress as well. Panda Bear - Boys Latin.

ahhhhh haven't listened to PB's new album yet. Sort of hesitant, haven't really been digging their solo albums as of late.

This track was... okay. I like that alternating L/R voice effect (no idea what that's actually called) in the intro but after that's finished it's really shiitty how low the vocals are mixed. And the instrumental's pretty boring/stagnant/repetitive. I mean that vocal effect is the only thing really enjoyable about the song IMHO. soz dude

Been listening to this heaps recently
DJ Shadow - Buliding Steam With a Grain of Salt

AFEV

Action Bronson is much more my thing! That song is fire. & see I found Panda Bear Meets the Grim Reaper to be a real return to form for PB - his best work since Person Pitch I think. I'm hoping that same return to form is in tow for AnCo.

That song is fairly enjoyable, the production is simple but focused, the audio sampling reminds me a lot of Burial although it lacks the atmosphere of his work.
It does have an intimacy that is quite intriguing, quite plaintive and ambient. Dug it quite a bit.

From one of my all time favourite hip-hop (if you'd even call it that) LPs of all time, cLOUDDEAD - Apt. A (1).
