Action Bronson's dope.

oh man, I've been meaning to listen to cLOUDDEAD for so long. This track is solid too. That atmospheric cloudrap production is on point but the vocals take some getting use to. Pretty unique flavour, really laid-back, quiet, blended into the beat. Fair few samples mixed in there too that are layered pretty interestingly. I dig it on the third/fourth try. The production's definitely the centrepiece of this track tho and it's a pretty terrific beat, especially after that switch up midway. Good track!

King Kendrick's back tho, and he's fire.

Yeah cLOUDDEAD is legendary, I've never listened to their follow up to the self titled but that album is just crazy cool.

Kendrick hits hard on the rhythm, flow and message just like always. A rather poignant track given the social issues plaguing America (and I suppose the rest of the Western world) this year just gone. His concision has always been impressive, and everything he says in this song is deliberate and considered, a very organised and articulate summation of a fairly complex issue.
Aside from the social commentary the beat is strong and the hooks are standard for Kendrick, although I don't think this one is meant for casual listening in the slightest.

After teasing his channel ORANGE follow up for an eternity, Frank Ocean dropped this cover on his tumblr alongside promises that his album was being recorded/had been recorded/was ready to drop/?JUST flowerING GIVE IT TO US WAH.

I just love his last verse and particuarly the last few lines. Snaps it back to the personal matter that it is for Kendrick, gives light to his recent comments on the police shootings that garnered a lot of criticism; 'when we don’t have respect for ourselves, how do we expect them to respect us?'
But he's not simply pointing the finger at the rest of the black populace, it's everybody, it's himself.

'So why did I weep when Trayvon Martin was in the street?
When gang banging make me kill a nigga blacker than me?
Hypocrite!'

I wish the track had of just snapped to a halt after that final line. Would've made it hit harder IMO.

Well I thought I'd let somebody else do this one considering I've already played the shower out of this track and to avoid it becoming an 'Alex and MC trade songs' thread but alas...

This is an absolutely heavenly cover from Frank. The spacious keyboard reverb is the perfect platform for what is an amazing voice. I'm glad he's waited this long before following up his debut LP, and with tracks like this that we can presume aren't going to be on the album, he's only further distancing himself from channel ORANGE's lengthy shadow.

Annnnnd despite some mediocre reviews I'm still hype as flower to here Sour Soul

all cool dude haha. Appreciate the enthusiasm! But you should read the thread rules first (TDog too probably). The idea of the thread is to listen to the track posted before you, give a little summary of why you did/didn't enjoy it then post a track of your own. Keeps everything moving forward that way and ensures peoples tracks are getting listened to.

Anyway, that Mac Miller track is pretty swell and I seriously enjoyed his latest mixtape 'Faces'. Actually thought it was one of the more underrated releases of last year. Has some killer tracks on it (although it's incredibly lengthy); Here We Go, Friends, Polo Jeans, Diablo, Rain, New Faces (GOAT Earl Sweatshirt verse) and Grande Finale are absolutely ace.
