#9 Jake Stringer - Western Bulldogs

Requested by CrowsFan

Name: Jake Stringer
Age: 19 years, 6 months
Team: Western Bulldogs
Position: Forward
Bye: Round 9

2013 Low: 17 (red vest) 33
2013 High: 81
2013 Average: 46.6
2013 unsubbed average: 57.1
2013 Pre-Bye Average: 51.7
2013 Post-Bye Average: 54

Fanplanner Price: $249,300

Predicted average: 60-70ppg

Verdict: I don't think Jake is fantasy relevant this year, another pre-season should do him wonders and i wouldn't be surprised if he saw a bit of midfield time but i think he still needs another year or two before you consider him. Definitely a name for the future.

CrowsFan

Thanks specky, agree not fantasy relevant this year. But if he can play 10+ games again and average around 70 then I will be happy for my WXV team :)

dunno - fitness was all that was holding back last year and apparently he is killing it this preseason.

If he can kick a couple of goals and get some midfield touches each game, and play all year, he could be very handy in the forward line at that price ... in my draft team.

I heard an interview with Macca (about a month ago) when he was discussing Macrae and Stringer and building tanks - Stringer is a bit behind in that area.

Of the 4 draftees who played last year I see them Hunter, Hrovat, Macrae as far as getting games this year

Stringer will also mainly play forward if he does get a game or two and will now be competing with Crameri, Grant, Dickson, Hunter, Dalhaus, Gia, Murphy, Tutt and even Stevens to go with Jones and/or Campbell.

So at the start of pre season training? A lot can change in a month when it comes to fitness.

Doggoneit

sure it can but you don't build a tank overnight

anyway just my opinion on how I see the team - he may well tear it up in the magoos and force his way in. He most certainly has talent but just may take a bit of time to show his best at this level.

I have Hunter ahead of him by a fair way at this stage - but as you say things can change before kickoff

CrowsFan

That is true. But using myself as an example as I have just started trying to get myself fit again after missing this season with injuries. I have gone from not being able to complete a 4.5km run, to completing it in 18.5 minutes in a week, then cutting 45 seconds off that time the following week. So fitness can improve very quickly.

Herald Sun just released an article predicting their best 22 for the Dogs and it has both Hunter and Stringer in the starting side...

I'd be fairly surprised if Stringer played under 10 games this year

This kid will be a gun, but he'll have to wait a few more years before he makes my side.

But he wont be rookie priced in a few years  ;)

But he'll be a premium, so it won't matter  ;)

I think the kid is gonna be an absolute jet and we will see it sooner than we all think. Could well be his breakout season, firmly on my watch list!
