Why can't we just agree that they are the two best players in the world and not try and decide who is the better of the two? Since they both have different playing styles it's too hard to split who is the best, because they are both the best at how they play.

Franck Ribery is the best guys.  :P

Ronaldo is great at every skill that you need to be to be a professional footballer. He barely has a weakness.

Ronaldo and Messi are the 2 best players in the world and if you think otherwise then obviously you don't know your football.

Haha I think he's better too, but just trying to avoid arguments ;)

You guys are silly, Messi is better.  ;)

I am a massive Ronaldo fan and think he is the most gifted athlete this game has ever seen. However we are talking about Messi. Who will go down as the worlds greatest player when he retires. Ronaldo had the better season obv, but there is 0 chance that Ronaldo is the better overall player. The fact that you actually said youve been saying it for years, iis even more funny, since Messi has out performed him since 2009.  Maybe you don't watch too many La Liga games? I mean, Messi scored a hatrick on his Classico debut against one of the best Real Madrid sides ever. He wouldve started in the argentina side at the 06 world cup @ age of 17. We are talking about someone who has had such an elite peak, over a long extended time, something which isn't common. Ronaldo and Messi will both go down as top 5/10 players ever, however Messi is prob the only one that can be the number 1, unless Ronaldo wins everything and Messi just never gets back to his absolute best.

Ronaldo has absolutely shredded it in two leagues. Messi has had the best play-makers in the world feeding him the ball his entire career. Don't get me wrong, both are insane players but Ronaldo has shown substantially more versatility and adaptability to different games. How would Messi go on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke? As far as current ability goes, they're very hard to split. Ronaldo has dominated in England and dominated in Spain. What's more is a lot of the time he is bagging similar goal tallies to Messi off a wing.

I'm not having this debate though because you'e wrong and I'm right neither one of us is going to convince the other. Experts have debated this and come up with sfa haha.

How's the great Messi going with his national side? ???  Right then!

Even I could score in that Barca side, when they actually move the ball forward of course :P

I almost made this comment but decided to restrain myself :P Tried to keep the convo civil haha.

Well after these comments I can tell you guys don't watch Messi that much. They aren't hard to split at all. Also, Ronaldo isn't very versatile. That's like the biggest myth ever. He plays the same game. Defenders know how to stop him, yet they can't. This current Real Madrid side plays very similar to the 08 United side. Deeper line, more pressing, explosive wide play and quick tempo. He isn't very good as centre forward because his strengths are exploiting space and getting 1 on 1 with a defender facing the goal, rather than back to goal.

Also with this feeding the ball crap, not sure if you understand Messi's position or what he actually does for the current Barca side, but I'm going to out on a limb and say no.

I really can't grasp the concept of Ronaldo being better than Messi since 2008. I have no idea what games you have been watching.... He may have had a "better" calender year, but so did Sneijder in 2010 and Ribery had a better year than Messi as well this year. It doesn't make them "better players". For instance, Mata hasn't had a good year, yet he is better than Hazard for the time being. Messi has been beasting it for Argentina in recent years btw.

All a matter of opinion ::)
