What exactly were you expecting?
A young inexperienced team against the world champs with about a billion dollars worth of players on the pitch.

Pretty good tournament by the Aussies. When you consider the group we were in. Weren't disgraced in any game

I stand by my original statement

By far our worst effort of the 3 games tonight, we looked relatively harmless up forward with Cahill missing. When we got into

good positions with the ball our forwards looked all at sea as if they had no idea what to do with it. We lack the ability to hold

the ball  and our one touch passes are well below the standard to compete at this level, we missed so many targets from

metres away and gave up the ball all to easy. Our defenders stood off their of their forwards and backed up rather than

pressuring them outside the penalty area, we backed up and allowed them into the box where they cut us open with a lethal

pass and scored twice and could of scored two more times because we continued to back up rather than pressure them, far

better to give a free kick if needed outside the 18 yard box than back up and allow them in where the pressure of giving

away a penalty should we foul them becomes to great. I got sick and tired of seeing us go backwards as soon as whoever had

the ball felt the slightest pressure from them moving up on us. We looked totally harmless until Troisi  came on and i must

admit i like the look of this guy. It wasnt until Bresciano came on that we actually had a player that was prepared to run at

them and beat them. Up until this game i was pretty happy with our performance and thought we have improved but then

this mornings game came along and ruined any thoughts i had of us improving. We are still the same Australian team that lacks

the basic skills enabling us to keep the ball at this level, we lack the skills to be able to pass the ball and consistently find our

target under any sort of pressure be it small or great at this level. My criticism of the team is harsh i admit but its also fair. We

are average at best. Like it or not thats where we sit, average and to the idiot commentating with Foster who kept harping

on about us deserving a goal has no bloody clue seriously we were far from deserving anything from this game. pretty sure i

saw the Spanish keeper checking his emails and reading Fifty shades of grey a few times he had so little to do. I think he made

one save for the game in the second half, that was basically all the work he had to do for ninety minutes. Now the boys will

come home and be patted on the back for good effort and there lays are problem with soccer in this country, the powers to

be and those that should know better are happy with mediocrity. Our two best players  from what ive seen in these 3

matches are still Cahill and Bresciano who will not be there come 2018. God help us because without those two we look very

ordinary at best and an inform Spain this morning would of put another 3 away and rolled us 6-0, i think we were lucky they

are struggling for form. As i said harsh criticism but entirely fair i feel and i'll stand by every word of it. Ive had a gutsfull of

watching our national team attempt to compete at this level without the basic skills needed to compete at this level, i honestly

feel ive been watching a bad version of Groundhog Day for a decade and if i hear any of the media applaud them for their 

effort particularly in this mornings game i swear im seriously going to throw up.

This is how Australia were expected to play in all games. Not sure why everyone is mad. Chile and Netherlands barely tried at times and when their backs were against the wall, they managed to still win.
