Time to shine

Who's time is it to shine in 2014?
Recent break outs from Cotchin, Martin etc have been great but they were almost expected.
Who's next? Who really needs to go to the next level in 2014?

I have a few guys.

Vickery: there's something about this guy that just irritates me. He gets in moods it seems where he can launch himself at the ball, take big marks, lead hard but then there are times where he looks so slow and lazy and uninterested.
I know the big guys traditionally take longer but now is his time. With mcbean on the verge, Vickery could actually find himself dropped and even traded if he doesn't have a big season. Would love to see him become a tippet type.

Conca: been on the steady improvement but I think he needs to really go bang this season. Flys under the radar a bit but I think he needs to demand a permanent midfield role now.

Grimes: this guy will be one of the competitions best backman if he can ever stay on the park long enough. Needs to get the body right, put some weight on and have a big year. Hard to believe he's only played 26 games. He's such a natural leader though that I just expect a big season from him.

Shane Edwards: had a great 2012 but I thought he went off the boil a bit this year. Needs to become more consistent and get more dangerous around goal. He and king are our only specialist small forwards now so they need to kick goals each week to chop out for the big guys.

Anyone else you guys think?

Batchelor, Griffiths, Ellis, Newman.

Jroo

Conca is my pick, I've been saying this for years that he's going to be a star. 8)
If Grimes plays every game he'll finish top three in the B&F. It's a shame he's soooo injury prone, as he is one of the best young defenders out there  :(

Tyrone for me. It's his year to make a serious impact and show how lethal he can be.

Can you imagine Big Vicks, McJesus and 'The Unselfish' Jroo all firing?!  :o

Batchelor is a year away from gettin the boot I reckon. I really like griffiths. Anyone that can kick 80 metered is a keeper. Ellis I think just needs to progress as he has and Newman? Not so sure about him he's an old man haha

Haha just thought it was a bit stiff to call out Newman to have a big season. Put him on ice until finals  :P

Out of that lot, probably Conca. Plenty of talent!

McBean won't push Vickery out of the side, and to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if Vickery is our leading goal scorer next season if *touch wood* he stays injury free.

Not immediately but in 12 months time if Vickery hasn't had a big season mcbean could take his spot.
I hope you're right! He needs a big one

Even if Ty hasn't had a big season surely they'd just play them alongside each other anyway?

I don't think that's a garuntee. Can't have to many talls it generally doesn't work. Although mcbean is basically a ruck an sized crumbling forward. Can handle the ball bloody well at ground level

It will probably be Conca. He has shown some great signs and has improved a lot in the last year. But i think that if Griffiths can keep his body healthy which is not going to be easy, will be a real help to us.
