"There are currently more than 233,000 people on the waiting list. "

I think the wait will creep closer to the 30 year mark if you haven't got your name down yet. I would be very very surprised if they turn over about 10k members a year and that would be 23 years :O
People drop out of the waiting list I reckon. Maybe they should just bump up the price?

You pay a once off fee of $110 to join the queue. It used to be $60 a few years back so they did bump up the prices. You can't drop out of the waiting list unless you die... you can just reject the invitation to join (it is over $600 a year but they have so many payment plans, most people are able to pay)

When my parents signed me up it was around $50, Probably won't be in a position to pay the annual fees anytime soon so I won't mind waiting several more years.

What are the all the perks?

So basically free access to all cricket and football matches and you can have a nice lunch before the game?  :P

Not to mention good seats and exclusive access to some ticket sales. For example I had to book, about 2 months in advance for the Liverpool v Victory game while people I know with MCC booked a week or two before.

Looks like the waiting time will be somewhat reduced.

Will be marginal. Don't know how much they can possibly increase it just on the basis that it's "not always at capacity".
Every big game I go to it's full apart from the top deck which no one wants to sit at weather it's in the MCC or anywhere else around the ground.
Only way to truly shorten the waiting time for the future is to bump the prices right up. Particularly for the joining fee.
It's hardly exclusive when I pay almost as much for my 2nd level Richmond Membership as people do for MCC memberships

MCC Membership is insanely overrated, especially with the waiting times attached to it

I always got this impression too when people talked about it

I see it as a luxury thing, kinda like having an outdoor entertainment area with a sink hot/cold running water built in BBQ, seethrough fridge, huge plasma tv with surround sound, Bose speakers amp and CD player etc. You can get by without it but it's very nice to have.  :P
