Personally i'd like to see come the end of the year
B Dylan Grimes  Alex Rance  Steven Morris
HB Petterd/Dea Troy Chaplin  Brett Deledio
C Brandon Ellis   Trent Cotchin   Bachar Houli
HF Knights, Shane Edwards, Dustin Martin
F Hampson, Riewoldt, Vickery
R Maric, Foley/Miles (barring injury) Jackson
Int Conca, Vlastuin, Knights
Sub Grigg

Nige

Yeah actually, Knighta would be best 22 if fit right?

I'll have another crack:

B: Grimes, Rance, Morris
HB: Houli, Chaplin, Vlastuin
C: Grigg, Jackson, Ellis
HF: Conca, Vickery,S Edwards
F: Martin, Riewoldt, King
Foll: Maric, Cotchin, Deledio
Int: Newman, Hampson, Lennon
Sub: Banfield

Providing Banfield becomes a shock-trooper.

Toga

Oh yeah of course. Knights when fit, I'd play where Titch is listed (on the HFF) and move Titch to the FF line for Lloyd or someone.

As for Foley, the fact we dropped him for the EF last year and the fact that he just looks like he is lacking speed now a days makes me think he doesn't have much longer left in the team with the emergence of fellas like Vlastuin, Dusty, Biscuits and now Miles who can seriously play.

Kellogscrunchynut

How do you guys rate Miles? I reckon he was seriously underused at the Giants, possibly the steal of our new recruits.

Nige

I think guys like Axel, Grigg etc have limited days.

All these young mids coming through, they'll be phased out.

Another point is that Ricky Petterd, Matt Dea and Jake Batchelor are fighting for the same spot.

Odds on one of them not being on our list next year?

The team I want to see on the park round 1 is:

Grimes, Rance, Morris
Houli, Chappy, Newman
Conca, Deledio, Ellis
Martin, Vickery, Knights
King, Riewoldt, S.Edwards
Maric, Cotchin, Jackson

Int: Hampson, vlastuin, foley (Lennon)

It's hard to bloody pick now with the list we've got. A lot of players just miss out and could easily step in.
Dea, batchelor, grigg, Lloyd, Gordon, petterd, griffiths, astbury, arnot, miles.. The list goes on. At least our reserves should be a reasonable side for their first year

Yep, big if though.
Wouldn't mind seeing and wouldn't be surprised seeing Gordon take Griggs spot in that team, similar sort of player with more speed and more ability around goals. I would love to see Sam Lloyd get some games if he can build up a tank, seeing him and Banfield battle for a spot would be nice as both would add different aspects to our game. Sadly I think it's Kings last season because of that. I would love to add Arnot, McDonough and Helbig but saw no way to fit them in. I think Lennon needs to build up a tank before he starts playing.

So it could just as easily look like

B Dylan Grimes  Alex Rance  Steven Morris
HB Deledio Troy Chaplin  Houli
C Brandon Ellis   Trent Cotchin  Martin
HF Lloyd, Shane Edwards, McDonough
F Hampson, Riewoldt, Vickery
R Maric, Foley/Miles (barring injury) Jackson
Int Conca, Vlastuin, Arnot
Sub Gordon

Unfortunate victim of the expansion teams' list reductions.

Considering we didn't get Taylor Adams or Dom Tyson, I'm quite happy.

Kellogscrunchynut

I'm glad that its difficult to pick a best 22 since even in 2012 our depth was very thin and we were carrying a lot of dead-weight.

TheAnt

Grigg should he not be overtaken by Gordon still has a role to play and Foley with a full-preseason could just as easily be an ace up our sleeves.

Miles would serve one purpose and that's to sleep at the bottom of the pack and dish it out.

Nige

I guess the thing about these mature age recruits is that they put pressure on our younger guys who we drafted to step up and fight for their spot.

I agree that the back 6 is, for the most part settled.

I reckon some of our midfield spots are obviously up for grabs (guys like Grigg, Axel on the way out?)

Then of course our forwards - Obviously got Jack, McJesus, Tyrone and Titch.

The other two spots plus the bench/sub spot are up for grabs.

With Matt White now in Port colours, who are the pick of the sub options lads?

I still don't think Grigg is on the way out as a lot of people seem to think (or want?) ???

Think he's a very good player and plays his role reasonably well...

Whoever's playing out of Petterd, Lennon, Gordon, McDonough, Foley I'd say.

Seriously rate him. Like seriously. Great inside mid, loved the look of his GWS highlights on Roar Vision and I think he will make a great replacement for Tucky with time - I even think he should almost fit into our starting team early next season as having Conca, Vlastuin & Miles able to play on the inside would free up Cotch a bit more.

The fact we've gone out of our way to promote Ricky and that he got games last year makes me think he's at the top of the pecking order. Remember also that Newman is probably in his last year or two so one of them may take over his role at some point.

I would love to see Batch traded next year.. :-X
