Structure for overall strategy

you guys think there is a structure that suits going for overall better? like starting 6 premo mids

i am really focusing on overall next year not many risks in my side besides Libba etc

i think it really depends on getting the rookies right and building your team around the rookies

I went with 6 mids this year and seemed to get off to a good start but think it had more to do with all the good cheap rookies and mature players , Goodes , Terlich , Vlastuin and some Port cheapies in the backline , Omeara , Wines , Jones , Dwyer ,Viney early and Crouch later in the mids these guys pumped out good scores most of the season . Apart from Hogan and Martin and Boyd ( he's not cheap and forward rookies can be unreliable ) I don't know if we are going to be that lucky next year only time will tell . If we are I think 6 mids are the way to go . Forward cheapies like last year will be the problem I think it was my downfall as I got caught with some mid priced players that did not perform near the end , anyway everyone will have there own plan and by the way I always go for overall and the $1000 every week winning the leagues is a bonus as I don't play cash leagues .

i'll be in a cash league hopefully

but imo going for overall and doing good overall usually means doing well in your league anyway

The structure all depends on where the value is. Last year I had a cheap backline and went 3 premos 5 rookies.

I'm  actually seeing more value in the forward line but it's abit early to say. Will depend how fasolo Higgins Patton etc.. pan out

To go for overall I think you need at least 5 premo mids, and not these semi premo mids you need the best of the best. If you go 6 you can afford to pick up guys like Murphy.

Many people I see are going Grundy or Sandi in the ruck, I'm not a fan at all and I don't like the ruck bench options soo far so Goldy nic Nat is my current set up.

What you need to do is identify the must have guys under 250k than fill your premos in from there. Last year I identified 5 defenders I needed than picked the 3 best defenders with the avilabke cash left. The mistake most make is picking the guns than filling in with rookies.

Pick your rookies than fill in the guns.

Also with the early byes you have less time to fix your team before they role up. Round 8 mids a problem, maybee that's telling you not to load up on premo mids, so you dont compromise and pick guys you need to trade out.

Yep, couldn't agree with what the SC master has said.

Not taking a single risk, if NicNat is not 100% fit, he is out.

No rucks in teams with two ruck strategy.

No Cotchin or Murphy or any player that can't handle a tag. Only the best. (This blokes, if they prove themselves are in later.)

Only mid-pricer I guess is Suckling and maybe one of these guys if 10000% fit: Fasolo, Higgins, Claye Beams.

No Sandi, Grundy, Mumford, Kreuzer, HMac. Too much risk.

Only solo rucks, for me it's out of NicNat, Goldy & Sam Jacobs. Yes I am considering him :P

I think your rank comes down to nailing the rookies and using your cash cows well aswell as good trading, no remorse for out of form players. :)

Save cash in the rucks, there are always 2 or 3 breakout guys in the mid price range, next year I would look at the Saints with Hickey and Longer both being reasonably priced, Big Boy on the cheap also has to be considered at the Hawks, Pyke rucking on his own is another but he would have to be sub 500k for me to consider just because he is still unproven (only one decent season) and over 30. Looking at previous few seasons the top priced rucks have generally faltered the next season. The one exception has been Dean Cox, but with age I think this is the year  to finally not start with him.

I am seriously considering Jacobs, cheap and sole ruck. Showed glimpses of 2012 form towards the end of the year.

will he be a top 4 ruck or will you see Nic Nat Goldy combos with both guys going 110+ and want to trade him out?

Considering I started Tex Walker last year and still came 69th shows that if I didn't flower up one player, I could of won.

Yarran 50 2 donut. Lost 50k lost trade

Cost me probably 300+ points

We have pretty similar structures and trading strategies and I think it worked last year, it might not next year but I think it's a good foundation.

Ricochet

I didn't start with ZDawson either... could have won if I did

Brought in Duffield. 3 70's lost good money, didn't play 2 weeks before I cut my loses.
