Hey guys,

Finished inside the top 5,000 this year after looking like top 500 midway through the year :( so looking to get back up there in 2014. So...out of a bit of boredom I present: Endeavour Storm 2014!!!  ;D

Obviously rookies aren't fixed, but included for all intents and purposes. Let me know what you think and what I could change :)

DEF: Goddard, Hodge, K. Simpson, Waters, Suckling, Bock (Scharenberg, Hams)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Cotchin, Beams, Murphy, Polec, Tyson, J. Martin (Morabito, X.Ellis)
RUCK: Cox, Grundy (Currie, McBean)
FWD: Rockliff, NicNat, Buddy, D.Thomas, Karnezis, Hogan (Michie, Thorp)

War Chest: $122,500

Notes:
- Actually really like this back line. Presents plenty of depth especially if Bock can get fit.
- Depending on where Karnezis plays he may be changed. However the Pies look to want to use him as a flexible utility.
- Chose Grundy over Sandi because I think the kid can REALLY play and looks to be better with injuries than Sandi.
- Cotchin, Beams and Murphy present not only value, but also great scoring potential for their prices. Hoping Polec can by my Monfries of 2014. If Morabito can get his body right he is an out-and-out gun. Ellis also presents good value if he can get on the park enough.
- Buddy was a tricky choice. Only picked him as he looks great value at that price. Also a new home MIGHT reinvigorate him to the big scores we know he can pull out.

Thoughts???  :P

Ricochet

Some very unique picks there man.

I have Bock also but many have suggested he might struggle to be there round 1, especially with ASADA investigation hanging over his head. But he's a wait and see.

Grundy is an interesting selection. He can seriously play there is no doubting that but can he consistently pump out premo scores in only his second year? Sandi and HMac present wicked value for proven scorers. I'd definitely be looking to have at least one over Grundy.

Other than that pretty good mate. You have some good uniques as well, hope they pay off.

t.thomas6

Thanks for the ideas there Ricochet :)

If Sandi can get through an interrupted pre-season it will be him over Grundy. HMac will enter the equation if he can do the same thing.

Bock will also be monitored for the reasons you mentioned. Will also watch Heater, Buddy and other premos...especially the mids who have dropped in price from 2013.

Thanks again mate :)

Ricochet

No worries champ, we've still got ages but looks very solid so far

Any other thoughts coaches? Rip it to pieces :P

DEF:
Too much injury risk IMO. There are more reliable, younger options than waters and hodge. 7/10

MID:
8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 10/10

RUC:
MUCH better options than cox IMO. Mcevoy, mummy, kreuzer all present great value and gold and minson are ultra reliable. Would prefer sandi to grundy, but i can see your logic. (though youve taken similar risks with waters and hodge) 6/10

FOR:
Brilliant structure. ? on Karnezis, but again i can see where youre coming from. 9/10

Thanks for the feedback Footyrulz :) I like how you were quite harsh in judgement in a few lines and that you rank my mids so highly :P

So after your feedback I have this:

DEF: Jimmy Bartel, Brendon Goddard, Kade Simpson, Matt Suckling, Beau Waters, Nathan Bock
Matt Scharenberg, Will Hams

MIDS: Gary Ablett jnr, Scott Pendlebury, Marc Murphy, Dayne Beams, Trent Cotchin, Jared Polec, Dom Tyson, Jack Martin
Xavier Ellis, Anthony Morabito

RUCK: Todd Goldstein, Aaron Sandilands
Liam McBean, Daniel Currie

FWD: Tom Rockliff, Dale Thomas, Lance Franklin, Nic Naitanui, Patrick Karnezis, Viv Michie
Jesse Hogan, Mitch Thorp

Salary cap left: $16,800

Notes:
- Couldn't find a replacement for Waters re. your feedback (any ideas?) so I left him in the hope he has a full pre-season. I really rate him when he's fully fit. I did get rid of Hodge and stepped up to Bartel.

-Also went Cox to Goldy and Grundy to Sandi (as suggested)

-Stuck with the mids and fwds. If Karnezis will be on the park as often as Bucks has implied he's in Round 1 :)

Fire away!  :P

I think its ok to have 1 of hodge and waters. Just not both. That looks a really good line now.

I like your ruck changes as well.

I agree :) I will monitor Waters over the pre-season and NAB Cup then decide whether to keep him or downgrade to a rookie to free up some cash.

Rucks definitely look strong now :)

Can't see Goddard retaining DPP, and think Bartel will drop off a bit (although I thought that last year :P ). Definitely has good depth, maybe too much? Will depend on what defence rookies are available to start with next year.
Midfield looks good
Rucks are very good
Forwards look really good

Apart from players retaining DPP or not, can't really fault it at all. Good luck for next year mate! :D

johnnytheboy1

If Goddard Dosen't Keep his DPP  you should look at Jarrad Mcveigh or Scott Thompson as a replacement Replace Bock with Gardiner. Apart from that a strong team 7.5/10
