Hmmm, I've seen these before (assuming this is the same type of riddle)

Break into 4 groups, so;
S, Y, A, R
O, Y, R, O
R, O, E, N
R, U, W, G

Then read top to bottom, and going right one column once you get to the bottom of each column, gives:
SORRY YOU ARE WRONG

Just figured the letters were a jumbled sentence.

Assuming you miss your first shot on purpose

Chance of Barry killing Chris and yourself would be:
(2/3)*(2/3)*(2/3) = (6/27) = (2/9)
Or that's what I thought, as Barry also has to rely on you missing him (2/3).

Should be (8/27) there, not (6/27)

(8/27) + (2/9) = (8/27) + (6/27) = (14/27), which is just over 0.5

I took that into account. The first time you miss you miss on purpose, so it isn't influenced by your 1/3 chance of hitting your target

unless we're supposed to assume that  allan is such a terrible shot that if his target is to miss everyone then he has a 2/3 chance of hitting and killing someone? :P

haha, yep, I see what  I did wrong.

although, let's be fair here, I think with the wording of the riddle that if you're aiming to not hit anyone, you have a 2/3 chance of hitting someone :P

but yeah, ignoring that, you're completely right. My bad :P
