That would've been incorrect though, as they aren't in "a tunnel of darkness" (i.e. the barrell of the gun). Could be argued for the 2nd half of the riddle I guess, but I don't come up with the answers :P

Riddle #10

Alan, Bertrand and Cecil were caught stealing. They were to be punished for their crime but the king gave them a chance. He put a hat on their head from behind. None of them could see the hat on their own head. The king made them stand in a line. Then the king said, 'If you can guess the correct coulour of your hat, then you will go free. These are my hints: There are only black and white hats. There is at least one black hat and one white hat.' Alan could not see any hats. Bertrand could see Alan's hat but not his own. Cecil could see both Alan's and Bertrand's hats but not his own. Nobody answered for a minute. Then suddenly one of them answered. Who was it and how did he know?

It would be Cecil.

Cecil's at the back of the line so can see both.

Bertrand can't see behind him, but can see Alan's.

Dunno if that made sense.
