Great album, Vinny.
If only he did the masses a favour by linking a song with it.  :P

NY State of Mind is definitely my favourite tune off of the album! All of it's stellar though haha.

Yeah the stand out but Memory Lane is siccckk too.

Nige

Actually a massive fan of The World is Yours, quality track.  8)

Vinny

Good choice man.

Nige and Chumps, top 3 rap albums of all time?

Mine would probably go:

Illmatic - Nas
All Eyez on Me - 2Pac
Ready to Die - Biggie

Unlucky: Me Against the World - PAC , MLP1 - Eminem.

My Chumps

Hmmm, tough question haha. It's hard to compare 'classics' like Ready to Die and Illmatic to modern albums, but I'd probably have to go with:

good kid, M.A.A.D City - Kendrick Lamar
My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy - Kanye West
Madvilliany - Madvillian (MF DOOM)

Man, I wanted to fit in the classics, but I just can't separate Illmatic, Ready to Die and The Chronic (Dr Dre). Some of my other favourites are Low End Theory by A Tribe Called Quest, 36 Chambers by Wu Tang Clan and Aquemini by Outkast. Such good albums.

Nige

Yeah, I agree with Cumpy. Comparing old rap albums to the all of the new age stuff isn't really fair or easy. As with most things, it's come a long way so naturally the stuff like Nas', Pac's and Biggie's work isn't going to be the same as stuff like Kendrick Lamar, OFWGKTA and Macklemore. Also, you have to take into account that while American rappers are arguably the most popular and well-known, there are British rappers like Example, Dizzie Rascal and Wretch 32 (first three that came to mind) and Aussie rappers like Hilltop Hoods, Bliss N Eso and Drapht (again, first three that came to mind).

So yeah, personally, I'm a massive fan of Australian hip hop so I would probably include one in my all time - probably Drinking from the Sun by Hilltop Hoods (marginally better than their first album - The Calling).

I'd would then also include My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy by Kanye and then The Blueprint by Jay-Z.

My Chumps

Not a fan of Aussie Hip-Hop to be honest, but Nigey does raise a fair point.

Boy in da Corner by Dizzie is a fantastic album when it comes to British hip-hop. Original Pirate Material and A Grand Don't Come For Free by The Streets are also amazing, but probably wouldn't be in contention for my top 3.

Vinny

Yeah I don't like the Aussie hip hop either that much but yeah you two are right. Probably can't make a fair comparison. I don't listen to much of the British stuff either to be honest. Yeah modern rappers, Kendrick and Eminem are ahead of the pack easily IMO. Also like ASAP's stuff too.

Nige

You guys not liking Aussie hip hop is my point haha.  :P

My Chumps

Yeah, but, you say that American hip-hop is the most popular and well-known therefore they're more likely to be in your best of lists and what not, when in actuality, the reason they're more likely to be in my best of lists is because, well, they're better than Aussie hip-hop :P

ASAP's first album was great.

Exactly. It's all subjective. You believe American is better than Aussie. I could deem it better (but don't).  ;)

Somebody might come in and say they actually do reckon Aussie hip hop is better and may only have one or even no American hip hop albums in their list, even if the universal/general opinion is that American > Aussie.
