#2 Is This It? - The Strokes

Staying with the classics, presenting one of my favourite albums of all time. It's not inventive or ground-breaking, almost copying The Velvet Underground's formula (RIP Lou Reed) but it's tight, emotive and cohesive. It's so nonchalant but somehow through the apathy true brilliance is found. Garage rock at its finest.

This Modern Glitch - The Wombats

This is the album I've been listening to a lot this week. The Wombats not everyone's cup of tea, but I really enjoy it. The songs on this album are a little darker and less upbeat compared to their debut album (A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation), but this was because Murph was going through a bit of depression as he was writing this album. The album art links to Jump into the Fog, which is my personal favourite from the album (closely followed by Our Perfect Disease), but what I think is even better is they recorded the songs from the album as an acoustic version as well, which just makes it even better in my mind. So to check out the acoustic version click on this link - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-WfDmRXi9Y

The Wombats are awesome. Walking Disasters my favourite track, followed by Our Perfect Disease and Tokyo

My Chumps

Never liked a full Wombats album. It's like they wrote one song and decided to just repeat it ten times, offering little-to-no variation in tone or tempo.

Hawka

Il join in if thats ok , il probaly promote some lesser known albums from bands i dunno il see

Once upon a time there was this guy named Rock.
He had commitment issues and slept around with many different women, and had many children. Two of his kids were named Hard Rock, and Punk Rock.
Hard Rock got married and had a kid named Heavy Metal.
Punk Rock had a few kids - one being a vicious, aggressive child named Hardcore Punk.
Heavy Metal gave birth to many kids, including a rather timid, melancholy daughter named Doom Metal.
One day the crazy Hardcore Punk took advantage of innocent Doom Metal and got her pregnant.
The result was a complex character named Sludge Metal who exhibited traits of both parents.
In 1992 when Sludge was only 5 years old he had a son that was very similar to himself, but the son prefered to focus on atmospheric and textured riffs. Sometimes he even sounds a little bit like some other distant relative named Post Rock. This kid was named Atmospheric Sludge Metal and here he is...

Haha of course that's fine Hawka. :)
Don't mind The Wombats, can't say I've ever enjoyed a full record of theirs though.

Toga

Album: Sunrise Over Sea

Artist: John Butler Trio

Genre: Roots

Suggested Listening: Zebra

Will forever be near the top of my most played list on iTunes, just a ripper album that I can't get enough of. Particularly good music for long drives! Zebra has gotta be one of my favourite ever songs, and JBT has gotta be one of my favourite bands I've seen live (twice now :-*)

The last two albums from Toges and timmy are classics, and the songs? Even better!  8)

If you like "Feel the Steel" then you need to get their follow up album

Balls Out

I am at work so cant look it up on youtube to provide a link.

My album for the week:

Battle Beast - Battle Beast.

They are a sweedish metal band with ripping guitar riffs and a female vocalist who has an amazing range.

Yeah to be honest the last couple of songs aren't that great. But the start I really enjoy :)

I believe it's that time of the week again!

#3 Madvilliany - Madvillian

My first hip-hop album and another classic LP. MF DOOM teams up with acclaimed producer Madlib to produce one of my favourite albums of all time. Throwing away traditional hooks and wordplay, DOOM's talk about super-villains and fantasies are hilarious but clever. It's not instantly accessible with most tracks not exceeding 2 minutes, but persistence is worth it. Strongly recommend it guys.
