Its probably been mentioned before in this thread but I really don't understand how Marsh gets picked averaging 20s in 4 day cricket over the past few years and Hughes is ignored with an avg of 61 this season with 3 hundreds including a double.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to see him succeed, but he's 30 and Hughes (even his brother Mitch) has surpassed him at the moment in my opinion.

Yes.. But as you know Hughes has been given numerous chances. Time for someone else to get an oppurtunity. Hughes weakness has been exploited at international level. The domestic bowlers arent good enough to exploit him. Not point bringing in hughes because hes going to get out nicking up and getting caught in slips or gully every time!

Does anyone remember Hughes on debut as a 19 year old against the South Africans? Scored two centuries and a double ton in that tour, absolute disgrace he's not in. I like Doolan but there's no way he's at Test level whatsoever.
Marsh is a gun and has the best technique out of any batsman I've seen, but I'm just not sure.
And another thing.. Where will Pattinson line up? Not sure whether he's in our best 11 along with Faulker too, eh, it's such a tough team to break into which is a good thing for Australia.

One other problem for Australia is we have too many opening batsman and we have no proper number 6, which is why Hussey was so important. Warner, Watson, Rogers, Marsh, Hughes, Khawaja etc who are all in or on the brink of the team are all openers!! We need to find a proper number 6 and give him a go against South Africa as stupid as it may sound,  and even though he's probably not the best player to go in, he would be the best number 6 in the squad. It's a very tough spot to play in my opinion.
