Everyone does realize that the pm doesn't really pick the team right?

He is on the selection panel, but he doesn't pick the entire XI. They pick some players on the verge of national selection and top players from the ACT.
I think he's given 15 players and gets told to make a team from them :P
12 probably

tbagrocks

Who gives the players, the opposition? :o

Surely Kevin Rudd would've selected a true XI

Johnny Howard should pick the team! Man couldn't play cricket, but knew a lot about it. He would have been the ICC CO if not for the all-controlling Indians.

PowerBug

Gees you guys are tools. Blaming the PM for a team that he picked which he probably didn't have much say over anyway. Were you guys expecing him to go in with Pattinson, Johnson and Harris as the bowling lineup? With Warner and Finch opening the batting? Really, who cares, the game was scheduled solely for the English cricket team to have a hit against players other than the Australian ODI squad, and also a chance for some younger guy to get invaluable experience against a professional international cricket team. You're all making it sound like he was the coach of Australia for the deciding Ashes test....

I think you missed it PB, no one was really talking seriously.

Basically the only point of the matches anyway is to give the touring side practice in conditions

PowerBug

There are clearly some serious posts made about the selection of that team. ;)

Well they probably could've made better choices with the batting, rather than guys like Hodge and Pomersbach but they had the right idea with the bowlers (i forget exactly which ones though)
