Looked up Swann on wiki. Already have him as a "former English Cricketer," shower their fast..  :P

Thats pretty efficient would say they've Improved, but I found a pretty fake article the other day.

Mailman the 2nd

Wikipedia have thousands upon thousands of people who continually update articles and pages daily.

It's pretty much as reliable as any other source

I think he's a reasonably smart bloke (swan) and he knows that he's not performing to the level that he would like. If his heart isn't in it as he has said, then there's no point continuing. I know he will be criticised for being soft and leaving a sinking ship halfway through a series, but if his heart isn't in it he won't be able to contribute well enough and deserves recognition for being able to recognise this. To be honest I have never really rated him, basically because I've only seen him play against Australia who he has a poor record against, but his stats are very good for a finger spinner. Sure he could have kept playing, but 34 is not young despite what you guys are saying and only the very best with a hunger to keep going can play to their late 30s, and for nearly all those who do this results in their performance dropping off. There's no point in continuing just for the sake of it.

Fair enough by him. If he was going to retire at the end of the series he might as well go now, no point staying around.

Who will England's next spinner be though? Panesar? Kerrigan?
Hopefully neither.  :P

I'd say Kerrigan. Still young. Could easily be their spinner for the next 10 years. Monty's like 31 and isn't that great.
Kerrigan is ridiculously shower lol, certainly not up to test standard at this stage look at what happened to him in the test he played last series, got destroyed. His figures were 0-53 off 8 overs and then he didn't even bowl in the second. would need a lot of work before reaching test level imho.

Who else will they look to that's young though? Kerrigan at least has the tiniest bit of test experience. No point looking to Monty or Tredwell, may as well start planning for the future now. If they want Kerrigan to get better, at least give him a few more games and hope the skill/form comes with the experience.

me

give kerrigan a chance, we didn't see even nearly the best of him in the 1 test he played

Mailman the 2nd

As said Panesar is pretty useless as a prospect so I think some major development needs to be put into kerrigan

South African spinners are licking their chops today after Swann's retirement!

Swann struggled in Australia because the pitches weren't tailored for him. Just saying :P

Not sure what all these random articles online about how Swann "deserted his teammates in dire need"

What was he going to do, put a band-aid on the batting lineup?

Because the batters are meant to score 800+ every innings...
