There is no First Class cricket between now and the South Africa, there will have to be changes for the next two tests, last thing needed is for Hughes and co that will make the RSA tour to have had no cricket under them since November...

I think that Faulkner may get a chance in the Boxing Day test and they could rest Ryan Harris.

They are not going to change the XI anymore though, they have just started winning, they aren't going to risk changing that. The XI will also remain the same for the South Africa tour, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Rogers moved on after that. You don't take a new player to South Africa against Steyn, Morkel and Philander for their first tour. No way.

Looking at Australia's fixtures over the next 12 months we have

- 2 more tests against England
- 5 ODIs against England
- 3 T20s against England
- 3 tests against South Africa in Feb/March
- 3 T20s against South Africa
- World T20 Cup in March/April in Bangladesh

Then from what I can tell, we don't play again until next November when the Indians come over for a 4 test series, with there only being 4 tests next Summer. That is then followed by the World Cup. There might be an extra ODI series between April and November, but I'm not too sure right now.

So I think it is likely that the same XI will be taken to South Africa. Next Summer we will see the return of Hughes and possibly Silk opening the batting. Also if George Bailey doesn't play great in South Africa he could be dropped, and I think next Summer will probably be Harris' last.

Thing is during our winter, where can our players go? Ireland, Scotland. Maybe there'll be some ODI's against them. UAE? To play against Pakistan, that would've been scheduled already however. So they'll most likely go play County cricket which isn't the worst outcome tbh.

Or even better, they might actually go home and sepnd some time with their families, as they have lives outside of cricket, despite the demand and expectations some people give these people. ::)

Hartley will be almost 33 by the time Haddin wants to retire (after 2015 World Cup) I doubt he'll get the baggy green, I hope they go with Wade, we need some youngsters
