I guess that's a good point, but we need him for a couple of years until we get a real vice captain. If Clark's back goes we're stuffed without him.
If he's not good enough, he shouldnt play. Address the leadership issues when necessary but just pick your best team for now - and Hughes is easily in that best 11.

You are right there Jay. What about Watson though? He is playing shower house and it seems like he is in the team because he is Watson. Needs to sort things out, like Dave said. Dropping him to 6 might help. If it does, back to Shield I reckon. It's not good enough.

nrich, we have a real vice captain, he was busy saving the Aussies today with his ton. 8)

Hughes is the best batsman in the Shield and a far more complete player than Bailey.

I dont really like Watto at 6, he either bats in the top 3 or not at all imo. Would be great for him to get dropped, could kick some motivation into him and make him a better player.

Vinny

Okay then we drop him and he can prove himself like the rest of them.

Johnno will get a michelle and a ton on the same day today, just you wait  :P

In other news west indies skipper Darren Sammy had pretty much the worse thing that can happen to a batsmen yesterday (even though he bats at 8), a pair in the same day! :o

sammy is a flog cricketer - can't bat and definitely can't bowl

anyway...

australia can win the ashes today... tail wags and bowlers wreck them later on... get around it!

In Sammy's defence, he helped save the Windies from defeat last week with an 80 or so while playing with an injured hamstring.

yeah good for him, but doesn't take away from the fact that he should not be in the team ... much less their captain

windies are just about the worst team in the world now (maybe ahead of Zimbabwe lol) and there is no light at the end of the tunnel with bravo their only notable cricketer (roach is pretty good but always injured) ... bangladesh are just about on par, and should move ahead in coming years if given more tests and continue to develop on the back of guys like shakib (superstar), iqbal, haque, ghazi

oh obviously chanderpaul is notable as well, but how long can he have left?

In Sammy's defence there's a big hole, that's how you generally get out for a pair.
