Ahmed's 6-68 in the first innings against Victoria the other day was impressive...

Oh whoops, that's what I totally meant :P

Chappell had an interesting article in the paper today. He started by saying there's two ways to approach a game, one is to pile on a mammoth total of runs that the opposition have no hope of out doing. The other is to attack with the bowlers and keep the total to a reasonable amount that a set of lesser bats can pass.

Now I think it's obvious that Australia need to attack with the ball more than the bat, as that is the strength (+ the batting sucks) so why not play a Faulkner or Henriques at 6? And if Watson's out too, then play a Hughes/Khawaja.

I think the AR is a better option than Bailey.

It's not like we have a bad bowling attack. I'd back Siddle, Harris, Johnson and Lyon (for the first test) to take the 20 wickets. Shane Watson would be a bonus if fit, but I doubt it.

I think we already have the bowling attack and it doesn't really need to change. I'd rather have the extra batsman.

Don't think anyone can count that high.

me

frothing for these ashes!

australia can definitely win, and england will always have a soft underbelly just waiting to be exposed, but i'll still back the poms for the series at this stage until australia shows it can win the big moments in an ashes test instead of meekly capitulating when the game is there to be won or lost as has been the trend for the last 4 or 5 or 6 years (aka recent memory)

England are cruising against Australia A. 0/216. Cook 107, Carberry 104

That said, was hoping the Aus A lads did well, there are a few I'd like to see in the Test team, mostly batsmen though.

I hate you Michael Carberry, I hope England lose the Ashes because of your 10 successive failures with the bat. >:(

He's jsut batted his way into the lineup, meaning Gary Ballance is next to no chance of playing now.
