Clarke would still get a good pay packet.

And so he should :). Anderson can give it in England, when their winning, but can't handle it in OZ, when their getting their ar$e's handed to them. I've had 100 times worst things said to me when I played soccer. If I got fined every time I said something in the heat of battle, i'd be still be doing community service at age 53 :P

PS-- not directed at you Lez :)

The rigours of international cricket isnt a good enough reason sorry. Some just have weaker characters then others
...

You just don't get it do you?

This is a serious matter which has obviously been going on for a while, he tried to play his best in the first test but it clearly affected his performance and culminated with him being pushed over the edge and having to return home through not being able to cope.

some of the things i read would suggest Australia are the first team in the history of cricket to bowl bouncers and sledge the opposition

so very very precious

A big flowering +1 to that sir! :P

And re: Clarkey's fine I'm sure he would've gotten away with it if it wasn't caught on mic. Doubt it has much of an effect on his wallet though :P

Johnaton Trott is a different kettle of fish. We don't know to what extent he needs to return to England is, so hope it's nothing serious

Wow...  :o

me

i just can't reconcile how england fans can criticize clarke for the sledge - what do you think england doesn't sledge? - they're kings at it, and have done it nonstop last couple ashes series when they were on top - sledging has ALWAYS been part of the game

if they had the stump mic on all the time, clarke's comment would pale into insignificance, it's laughable that he's been fined for it - they would have stump mic on more, but can't because of all the precious flogs around who get offended by it

if i was a captain and had a fast bowler like johnson at my disposal, i would be reminding the opposition of him in no uncertain terms

They are saying its "stress related illness."

I suppose when your own country start calling you a cheap wicket and you get smashed by 300 runs in the first test i suppose you might be stress too.

Vinny

If any English supporters are having a cry over Clarke's sledging, they can get stuffed. They can dish it out but obviously can't take it.

And come on, don't act like this "stress related illness" is a world ending crisis, it's cricket. Banter comes with it. Sorry Nige.

Life and one's health comes before the game and banter.

If you can't understand something as simple as that, you're a lost cause.

Settle down fellas I think we need to lay of Trott as this is a condition that he has suffered from for a while according to reports, We need to respect this and just let him have his privacy as he deals with the illness.  I trust he comes back unlike previous players eg Marcus Trescothick who never played test cricket again after their public battle with depression.

Here is a tweet from respected commentator Jonathan Agnew:

Jonathan Agnew ‏@Aggerscricket

Jonathan Trott has left tour with stress related illness. Not connected to Warner comments. Has been managing the condition for some time.

I wish Trott all the best and admire him for coming out and seeking help with his depression.

Yeah Clarkey is loaded I believe, pretty sure he bought Bingles mum or something an Aston Martin couple years back. :o

It happens all the time, just the fact that it was caught on national television I think, haha. :P

My point was that you don't need to rip into these blokes like they have committed treason.

They obviously weren't aware and were mucking around (part of cricket) pretty sure if something was seriously wrong with Trott they wouldn't have said anything.

But, I apolgise. Didnt know it was an ongoing thing for Trott.
