No problem with it at all. Its the Ashes, emotions are flying high, nothing better than some short-pitched stuff to get the crowd going and let the Poms know that we really mean business. If they expect to win in Australia, should be able to handle the bouncier pitches like the Gabba.
15 overs of it is just dangerous though. Mitch Johnson bowls some quick stuff, copping one on the scone wouldn't just tickle...
Of course, but thats Ashes cricket mate. Blame England, they started it all those years ago ;)
So Broad did not use the rising ball to get wickets  (Ask Clarke) Come on it is a legitimate tactic that can be used and if a batsmen has a weakness againt it it has to be exploited.
Great to see a true ashes stoush in this test reminded me of some of the great Gabba Tests I have witnessed.
However ant no time did Stuart Broad go around thw wicket and set that leg side field. And he also only does is to Clarke on a regular basis. It was obvious today that Australia were playing for that to the whole of England's tail and nearly all of the team tbh.
Well there is no rule that says you have to pitch the ball up to get a wicket. Short stuff is a perfectly legitimate tactic.

Only does to Clarke on a regular basis... because it's only a weakness for Clarke in the Aussie side.

Australians as a country in general are known as great hookers and pullers so bowling short to us is a strength. Poms on the other hand, we bowl short to every pom because they're all flowering terrible at the short ball.

Also there's restrictions if you bowl too short, we were well within our rights to bowl how we did.

Heard of bodyline? They didnt wear helmets back then either. Poms deserve every bit of chin music they deserve.

Why would bowling constant Short balls be a bad thing if it's a weakness of England? TBH I doubt it's that 'dangerous' anymore. They have such high-tech protection and if someone was hurt they'd be straight off to hospital.

A bit off topic here, but Marcus North is in amazing form for WA this Shield season.

So far he has scores of 45, 118*, 50, 37, 110, 84* and 145 for an average of 117.8 with 589 runs from only 4 matches :i

I think I laughed a little too much... :o

Suck it up Jukes, when you've held the ashes for 14 years then you can brag, today is our day and yes we haven't won yet but oh it feels so good to rout you blokes. ;)

I think we're in for an interesting day, The English bowlers will be sore after bowling 3 days in a row, I believe there's a bit of rain on the way so if we could get a 400 run lead today, that would be mighty swell, then tomorrow just tee off until we hit 500 or get bowled out. Very excited for today's play,  ;D

Ringo

Will be an interesting day today.  Overcast and very humid in Brisbane this morning so we will see how the English Bowlers use the conditions as it should suit reverse swing. Think any lead over 350 will be difficult to chase.

Australia will have to keep an eye on the weather when factoring in a declaration if thet get that far. Bear in mind weather robbed us of a possible win in England as well.

Nige

Not gonna lie, will seriously lol if rain sees this through to a draw.

It'll be quite funny I'll agree. :P

It was 3 years ago to the day where we saw the best spell of wicketless bowling ever. James Anderson moving the ball a country mile both ways for 8 overs on the morning of Day 3 to Hussey and Haddin. I hope he can replicate something similar this time, just with the wickets. :D Go Jimmy!
