Still not enough runs

Nathan Lyon is so shower than any total is undefendable

poor effort that one. I expect a better roasting than that from you!

Can't use my A-Grade material on the first day

well it had better get better otherwise i'm just gonna assume that Lyon has grown on you and he's your new favorite player

Disappointing batting from the top 6, and a score of around 300 will be under par, but I'll take it after being 100/5.

At least it was good to see Johnson bat well, and recently good form with the bat has meant good form with the ball for Mitch.

Yeah, when we were 5/100 I would be stoked if we made 300. Hopefully Haddin keeps going.

300 would be a great result considering how abysmal our top order were again ... didn't agree with the selection of bailey at all, and vindicated thus far, cannot fathom how he got selected actually, odi success is meaningless in the test arena ... warner so disappointing and irresponsible to get out with such a pathetic shot ... also, expect clarke to pull a kim hughes at the end of this series (tearful resignation) ... need a captain with more of a backbone (both literally and figuratively)... would be nice if pulled his thumb out, manned up and stood up in an ashes game with the bat

this test isn't over yet, but 400 looks to be par here, and a good team batting 2nd should really pull 500, hopefully our bowlers can make whatever we finish up with tomorrow competitive, let's not forget england are riddled with holes, just less full of holes than our sorry excuse for a team

I swear, if he does... I've been going off to all my friends about how Steve Smith will be captaining the side after this Ashes series is done, because he'll stand up. And if there's someone else agreeing with me, just maybe it could happen. :D

Hopefully though, it's a close series until the last couple because nothing is worse than pointless test matches.

me ::)

You can't blame Warner for playing like Warner

he plays like that all the time and he does it better than the vast majority of our team

me

yeah i know what you're saying, but it's easy for that to become a copout for players like him ... a bit like people always excusing sehwag when he threw his wicket away a thousand times in stupid irresponsible ways ... with the situation of the game warner couldn't afford to just throw his wicket away, especially playing such a ridiculous shot although it is typical of the mindset, character and temperament of our top order ... anyway if we follow that logic we shouldn't then blame watson for playing like watson, khawaja playing like khawaja, hughes playing like hughes, muppet team playing like muppet team etc et al blah

PowerBug

People say Pietersen is a batsman similar to Warner when it comes to aggression, yet he averages 48 and is probably the best ever batsman to play for England.

I actually agree. I'd rather see him go out like this than how Watson went out, prodding at something way outside off stump.
