tbagrocks

Vinny

Gunston competed with Buddy and Roughy.

Tex competed with who of that competition/talent?

tbagrocks

Firstly, as I just mentioned, even Butcher would kick goals at Hawthorn and Buddy isn't there anymore. Secondly, Kurt Tippett

just cut the crap already, I even prove it with stats ::)

JBs-Hawks

Gunston 1 premiership medallion.

Tex 0

Leigh Brown 1 premiership medallion.

Nick Riewoldt 0.

The good news is, at age 23 the flog Gunston will do his knee, then we can compare properly at ages 24 withought the flogging bull crap

MTTY

Tbag, what are your thoughts on Fernando Torres? Do you think he is a flog? (Different sport I know, but I have a point).

for the Liverpool switch to Chelsea? Yeah just not the same, firstly, Gunston left after just two years in the sport and the crows didn't go and sign Suarez with the money :P

Torres was already a developed player too, Adelaide put the development into Gunston after giving him the chance to play league footy and at one of the best places to live on the planet!

Fixed.

Most of gunston's progress as a player has come from the Hawks :P

tbag you call him all those names because he chose to leave Adelaide and go back home to Victoria saying he is a "mummies boy" among other things, yet you expect every player originally from SA to come back to Adelaide saying that's where they're from. It's basically the definition of hypocrisy.
No! Not at all! I thought you were smarter

if a player like Toumpas/Polec who aren't getting a go, then it is fair for them! Bryce Gibbs? He has payed 8 years of service to the club

A second year player was getting games and a valuable cog going forward? That is a week effort from that player! I.E Gunston

polec played more games in his first 2 years than gunston did, as has toumpas.

Every interstate loses players that go back home. Brisbane lost 5 last year, GWS has lost players like hombsch,  tyson, bruce who were extremely valuable, other players like aylett, edwards who were reasonably well rated internally.

The thing is, most clubs basically get as much as they lose- like port getting blokes like chaplin, monfries, hombsch, polec, white
adelaide got betts through the same factor.

That being said, you've got to wonder why some many players are going back to SA, but going to port instead of Adelaide.

tbagrocks

bluddy nerds and their pointing out of speling errors ::)

Gunston is a tall forward champ, everyone knows smalls play before talls and of coarse Adelaide developed the player, one of the worst comments of the year above!

Hombsch played more games in his season than gunston did and bruce played more in his first 2 seasons, yet you don't see us doging about them, and they were both talls?

Grow the flower up tbag. It's coming up on 3 years since he left- you doging on about a decision a player made when he was 19/20 years old, 3 years after it happened is so much more immature/ childish than the decision he made to change clubs.

As for developing... gunston kicked 20 goals in his 14 games with the crows or 1.42 per match
in his 56 games with the hawks he's kicked 122 goals or 2.18 per match

the best way to compare the two would  be through the 2011 and 2012 seasons though, as he would logically improve as he got older. In 2011 gunston played 12 games and kicked 19 goals (1.58 per game) while in 2012 he kicked 39 goals from 19 games (2.05 per game).

Basically, the crows took a young key forward and turned him from a bad player into an average player... although part of that  would have occurred independently in his own natural progression. While the hawks turned an average player into a really good player although some of that would have been natural progression as well.

So basically, either gunston always would have been good, regardless of the club he played for, or the hawks developed him into a better player than he was at the crows, and turned him into the player he is today. He didn't owe the crows anything for selecting him... if you have clubs lining up to sign you, then it's not as though adelaide took a big risk on giving him a chance or anything. If he was like a late draft pick, then sure, maybe he would have owed them something as they took a punt when nobody else would... but he wasn't, so he didn't.

What he did was pretty similar to what wingard did when he told GWS that if they selected him he'd probably go back to SA after 2 years... but I don't see you calling wingard a crybaby etc. If my memory serves (although, I could be mistaken), you actually lauded his behaviour for that.

Also tbag- logically, it's highly unlikely my comment fits in as one of the worst for the year seeing as you've made nearly a thousand posts yourself since January.

tbagrocks

Sorry but, using the GWS players as examples doesn't really compare since, they are all teenagers, so the circumstances are totally different

But you missed that part ;)
