I can see Heatherley getting games in rounds 1 and 2 until Lake comes back. Gibson and Stratton won't be able to cope by themselves IMO.

Schoenmakers?

Still not fit, will come back through BH I don't think we will see him in the seniors until after our bye.

Mr.Craig

Stratton with a hamstring. Going to have to dip into the cupboard and see what we can find.

Wanganeen named in the best again, got to get him off the rookie list asap.

Nige

The Hawks can only elevate one right?

Ben Ross or Wanganeen?

Whitecross is an LTI but I have no information as to if he's been put on the list officially yet. If anyone gets elevated it should be Wanganeen. We already have Simpkin, Hallahan, Woodward and Hartung as midfield back up, with Anderson still to come back. If we were super concerned about the tall back situation I guess Heatherley could come into the picture but I think he needs another year of development before we let him loose. Litherland could be the guy we turn to down back given he has played all three pre season games.

Nige

Fair enough.

I see Ben Ross a bit like Sam Dwyer/Kyle Martin.

Guns of the VFL who could really do well at AFL level if given a chance.

Scrads

I think in a normal situation Wanganeen would be promoted, but with our lack of fit key defenders I think Heatherley gets a crack.

I swear I saw on my Facebook feed that Whitecross was placed on the LTI. Could be wrong though ;)

If it happened it was probably quite recently given he can only be on there for 8 weeks and is likely to out for a bit longer than that.

Round 1 Team IMO

B: Suckling Heatherley Duryea
HB: Mitchell Gibson Birchall
C: Hill Lewis Smith
HF: Bruest Gunston Shiels
F: Hale Roughead Puopolo
R: McEvoy Hodge Hallahan
INT: Burgoyne Langford Sewell
SUB: Simpkin

A few will be missing for Round 1, so this is what I have come up with

Rioli - Suspension R1
Lake - Suspension R1-3
Whitecross - knee (late season)
Shoenmakers - knee (early return)
Stratton - hamstring (early return)
Anderson - phenomena

all will return to best 22 early on in the season except Anderson and whitecross. Players such as litherland, woodward, O'Brien, grimley and garlett will also feature at some stage

Which rookies do you think will get the most games this year?

Langford and Hallahan I would think get an opportunity, but for how long? Who makes way when Cyril, Lake etc return?

Given the success we've seen with Langford playing a lock down role and releasing Shiels I like his chances of getting a decent run, performances permitting. As you note the pressure will be on once those first teamers come back, at that point it may be a matter of who is doing the best out of Langford and Duryea as to who stays in the team. Hallahan would make way for Anderson I'd imagine.

Can someone tell me how it is possible Hawks will have so many fantasy relevant players firing? I know it's been done but still.

Just in defence: Hodge, Suckling, Mitchell, Birchall, Burgoyne.

Then Roughy, Gunston, McEvoy, Rioli, Lewis.

And to a lesser extent Smith & Hale.

Even guys like Bruest aren't terrible in fantasy.

Mr.Craig

I don't think Lewis will be relevant given he is mid only and no one should be touching Burgoyne. However you can throw Shiels and Langford on that pile. I'd imagine Anderson will rise in value by at least 100k over the course of the season but people may not be in a position to take advantage of it.
