I have looked at the past no 23 draft picks from 2000 to 2012 and the history shows that no many good players have came from this pick

the clear standouts i see are

Drew Petrie

Tom Lonergan

and David Zaharakis

since Zaharakis got picked up in 2009 from 2010 to current there has only been Koby Stevens, Cameron Guthrie, Murray Newman and Marco Paporone who so far havent been anything special maybe give Paparone an exception since it was his first season this year.

So lets just hope we can get someone decent ie a tall defender or another good young ruckman i,ve heard a guy called Cameron Conlon who sounds like the best ruckmen in this years draft

Ruckman ::)  Tall Defender ::)

Dayle Garlett, Luke Dunstan, Luke Reynolds! Surely Matt Crouch couldn't last :o

One of these three I would like

CrowsFan

Haha not a chance Crouch would last to our pick!

Garlett isn't worth a top 25 pick. He has the talent but not the athletic attributes. Players need to be able to run more than 7kms a game. No tank. Can't play him as a small forward since he refuses to chase at a required level. Dunstan or Dumont are your best bet.

Would really like Dumont but can't really see him there, fishing a bit on Crouch I know :P

Probably true Meow but we desperately need that type of player, hardly saw Atkins this year to comment, really hoping we pick up Charlie Cameron or Local boy Karpany but not with the first pick. Reynolds is the one I want!

Hearing we could trade McKernen and end up swapping the #23 for 18 ;D

if that was true dude that would be so awesome to get pick 18 haha we could get someone really descent a future champion

Sounds great, StKilda apparently after him, also heard a rumour they want as many top 20 picks as they can but who knows where that came from. 18 puts us right in there to get Dumont or someone of real quality anyway, probably to early for Luke Reynolds though  :'(

If we can get Dumont and can't get Reynolds, it would mean we surely then mean that possibly big man Hourigan but more hopefully with the next two picks Charlie Cameron and Karpany, I want them all ;D

Three small forwards and a gun mid or big forward would be perfect (the other small forward being Betts)

Not sure in what universe Mckernan would get pick 18

If you bothered to read the thread you would have seen that the proposed deal was McKernan and 23 for 18.

For 5 picks in the first round?

Even then you're dreaming, Dom Tyson got GWS 6 first round pick upgrades, Mckernan barely worth 1

Pick 23 means flower all imo, it's all about how Adelaide have gone drafting in the 20-30 ish pick range. Here is a short history

2011: Pick 27: Sam Kerridge
2009: Pick 29: Jack Gunston
2008: Pick 28: Shaun McKernan
2007: Pick 27 & 30: Andy Otten & Jarrhan Jacky
2006: Pick 32: Kurt Tippett
2005: Pick 32: Bernie Vince
2004: Pick 24 & 28: Nathan Van Berlo & Chad Gibson

I'd be pretty confident with that Pick 23 of yours

Mr.Craig

I thought the implication was that Pick 23 had been cursed by goblin or something.

Dudge

23's a great number-- Michael Jordan, Beckham, Warnie, Andrew McLeod, LeBron James, Don Scott, Dermie, Buddy,  Mattingly etc etc  ;)

Pity the recruiter who picked these guys got the sack!
