no doubt it is mate.

the Saints should be able to bring in quality young talent, quickly, as we will be near the bottom for a good 3 or so years. so in 3 or so years time, our list is looking a helluva lot better than it is now.
Carlton will be finishing alot higher than the Saints, due to having a better list now, but in that 3 or so years, i don't think Carlton will be pushing top 4. Carlton will be a top 8 side, but we all know how hard it is to win a flag from there.. also hard to bring in quality young kids
then after the 3 or so years are up.. compare the lists. i think our list will have far more POTENTIAL than what Carltons will.

I think we've all agreed that besides Steven there is no superstar talent on the St.Kilda list. And you just admitted you will be "near" the bottom for a good 3 years... So St.Kilda are really just riding their luck on draft picks, and we know how that can turn out.

Yeah perhaps but that is down to luck and good drafting.

You have Jack Steven as an elite and literally no one else as Joey & NRoo won't be around for more than 2 more.

We have lots of top talent that needs to grow.

Murphy, Yarran, Kreuzer, Daisy, Yarran, Gibbs, Andrew Walker, Lachie Henderson, Temay, Graham & probably Docherty.

All young enough

Dont see how the Saints list can be compared..

Steven was better than any Carlton midfielder this year. All he has to do is maintain his current level.

That said, I don't think it'll make a huge difference to the results

maybe just me but i can't see that list of players getting you guys to the top. Yarran definitely isn't good enough to be there twice :P

i guess we'll just have to wait and see. i'm happy with our youngsters atm, and am very confident we can draft well over the next few years.

Might not get us to the top but in three years your list won't be better than ours. Three years of drafting Doesnr make a team.

Your youngsters aren't any special.

But good luck, rebuilding would be tough for the fans :-\

I think brad is on the money.
To say our youngsters "aren't any special" is a throw away line at best.
Time will tell but as already stated on this thread Curren will make it. Has really impressed in his games to date and being elevated to Senior list was a no brainer. Spencer White has generated a lot of excitement. Markworth hasn't played but held in high regard too. Add Pick #3 this year.... Wright looked a footballer this year... and Newnes has got more than few games under his belt and doesn't look out of his depth in the AFL...plenty to say that we laying solid foundations for another finals tilt.
I like how you reel off Carlton's list of stars/quality players and see Temay in it. 0 games. Graham 2 games....can't have it both ways...dissing our young ones who you probably know little or nothing about and rubbing your youngsters in our face.
Go and talk up Carlton's chances on their board with your mid range draft picks coming up in the next few years before your inevitable slide down the ladder as you meet us on the way up.

Yes Curren will be a gun. Okay fine take out Temay & Graham..still the rest of the list beats your squad anyday.
Haha I'm not the one that brought up Carlton. Saying you guys are closer to a flag or will have the better list in three years is ridiculous IMO. Just my thoughts mate :)
