Simon Black has officially announced his retirement this morning in an emotional press conference, Injury has caught up with him.

Congratulations on a very good career winning 3 Premierships, A Brownlow and a Norm Smith Medal.

He has intimated he will step into coaching hopefully with Lions. Leppa wants Simon to stay on.

Well done Simon and we wish you all the best in retirement.  A real gentleman of the sport,

Absolute legend, one of our all time greats and certainly will become a Hall of Famer. Can't believe that he is retiring and will not be running out for us next year. Going to miss you Simon, congrats on an outstanding career.

Agree with what everyone has said about Black, a true gentleman, and a absolute champ of the game. Even as a opposition supporter, i'm so serious in saying, I will miss seeing him play. Brilliant career, well done to the lad

With the Lions Board issue resolved reports coming through that Black has been offered an assistant coachs position at Brisbane which according to all reports he will accept. Will be great for the club and the continued development of Rich, Rocky, Redden, Mayes and Beams along with Close.
