GEELONG has earmarked young forward Shane Kersten to play a Jack Gunston type role in the club's new-look attacking set-up next season.

Considering Gunston got two hide behind two massive forwards and Kersten only has an injured Hawkins now I wouldn't be so sure

Lets not kid around now,  Gunny had two massive forwards hiding behind him!

Nice to see they are earmarking him for a spot next year. Certainly deserves a go since he dominates at VFL level!

When you say dominated, what were his stats?

When you say dominated, what were his stats?
41 goals, 11 behinds from just 13 games (average 3.15 goals a game). Placed him 6th for goals scored in the VFL, but the top 5 all played a minimum of 18 goals. Was held goalless just once.

Other stats were - average of 7.4 kicks, 3.2 handballs, 3.6 marks, 1.6 tackles and 63.3 DT per game.

Yeah his other stats weren't amazing, but playing as a key forward you can't expect much, and he had a couple of games where he went missing completely (not sure if due to early injury or not). But if they play him in the Gunston role he will get up the ground more and pick up more touches. :)

Ty, Well i'd have anyone before Hawkins.

Out of curiosity where do you get those stats from?

oh and FYI daniher got 2 more scoring shots off one less game, kid just needs to work on his accuracy 29.25. 41.11 is stupid accurate

You can then view the stats for any of the rounds, or select the specific team and go to their player list to get individual stats for a plyer, e.g Kersten's stat page is here - http://www.sportingpulse.com/team_info.cgi?action=PSTATS&client=1-118-10583-253880-18717703&pID=194408933&pname=Shane%20Kersten&news_task=DETAIL

Yeah 41.11 is crazy accurate, scoring a goal from 78.8% of his scoring shots! To compare that to the top 5 goal scorers in the AFL:
Roughy scored a goal with 67.9% of his scoring shots
Cloke - 57.1%
Cameron - 69.7%
Kennedy - 72.3%
Franklin - 61.9%

So better than all of them, but obviously not as much pressure trying to score in the VFL.
