Come on Nige, you cannot forget champions of the game -----> Ralph Clarke.

Raph's in a league of his own.  ;D

Off the Raphael Clarke Wikipedia Page:

2008 Season:
Clarke finished the year in outstanding fashion, starring at half-back in the semi-final win against Collingwood and being one of the Saints few good players in the preliminary final loss to Hawthorn. These last few games saw him burst onto the AFL scene and he was named St Kilda's Most Promising Young Player.

Nek Minnit...

2012 Season:
Ralph was delisted by St Kilda at the conclusion of the 2012 season.
He is currently playing with St Albans in the Geelong Football League (2013).

Sums up his greatness ;D

Haha Nige, Toumpas is a class above them all and Zac Dawson is crucial to Freo's back six :P

Don't ruin my moment man.  >:(

Best way for that would be to count there best points total of the last two years.
+1

Hate this idea. Let's say you were Mexico city with a high cap total for example. Let's say they decided to cull a few older, aging stars and brought in younger players for 2014. With the plan it'd still keep them a top 2 team. Then go onto 2014 to get 27,000 for their cap

They then want to trade in a few stars after only finishing 5th in 2014, regretting their mistakes.

Except, no, wait they can't! They had a 31,000 cap in a totally irrelevant season and can't add anyone to their team.

I think as well as the points cap, the trade voting system has to be changed too. Not sure about everyone else, but I'd rather the way AXV does it, by giving Ossie all the power to neg/accept trades if they are very unfair.

On this, I like the way Ringo does it in BXV.

He has all the power but if he thinks its too close to call or if he declines it, the trade is referred to the trades committee which is made up of three external coaches to the BXV.
Not a huge fan of that method. It's better than the current one, but I'd be concerned that the trade comittee would vote more in regards to just the talent included in the deal rather than the state of the 2 team's lists.

I just think the current method has to go, allows for too much strategy. Oss should have all the power. It works great in AXV.
Think you're under estimating the quality of the BXV trades committee :o
Me too :P

I like the British system a helluva lot.

It's pretty much flawless tbh, very very quick and efficient and we haven't had ANY issues with trades being passed or blocked at all I dont think?

Toumpas is in the same category as Kieran Harper, Zac Dawson and Richard Tambling for me.  :P
Booo! Toumpas has only had one year and it was with a shower coach. Now he has Roosy helping him out, he'll show why he was drafted so highly.

Cant write off a kid after one season ::)

Vinny

Jay regarding your thoughts on the BXV system. You are still dirty about your trade getting rejected no doubt, haha. :P

But you should have explained how the trade was effecting your list and all that shower when giving your reasoning. And if the trade didnt madke sense to everyone after all that reasoning then... maybe it wasn't a fair trade or you didn't explain properly.

Your fault mate, sorry :-

Toumpas has along way to go. In a game where players are getting bigger, stronger and faster, he'll need to really improve if he wants to play AFL footy.

Better hope a certain Asian coach doesn't hear of this ;)

Chad Wingard was poor last year, then BAM!!
It's because PNL recruiters know talent when they see it :P. Also depends on role they play in the team, as he played deep forward pocket in his first season, then HFF and midfield in the 2nd year. Now we look at Elliot Kavanagh, who was drafted as a midfielder, had some stints up forward and is now a tagger in the reserves, so high draft picks don't always pan out but plenty of time to see coming years ;).

Although I agree that different people rating picks is a problem, it's hard to really fix that problem as a subjective thing.

You can't make these calls after a handful of games. He will naturally come of age.

If I had to chose one guy at Melbourne's list that gets me the most frustrated, amazingly, after only one year, its spud toumpas. I call him spud tompas or Cale Morton Mark II lol

Harsh sure, but I have never seen a more underwhelming debut year from a melbourne top 30 draft pick than I have seen with that guy. Has absolutely no mongrel in him, highlighted by how he beats himself up after another bad performance (i.e. another game he plays), if he was ever serious about becoming a better player, he'd be like Jack Viney, take any sort of critiscm or a bad day at the office on the chin and get on with it.

Wow, I found that just kept escalating when I was typing this :P

But yeah, just to re-iterate to to come back on topic, I have no qualms with the current system  8)

Of course there are some dud picks (we can thank the Tiges and Dees for highlighting most of them for us haha), but Toumpas showed glimpses and is a completely different player to JON.

Are we intentionally ignoring the interrupted pre-season he had due to hip surgery and the fact he plays for the spuddiest of all spuddy clubs?

If mongrel is your issue with him, Roos will sort it out don't worry ;)
