2013: 16 games at 58.5 ppg
2013 Scores:
DNP  DNP  DNP  DNP 62   29  DNP  47  20  102  32  63  45  71  75  57  52  71  94  86  26

7 x green vest
1 x red vest
8 x vest free games

Despite being handed the dreaded vest 7 times in season 2013, White enjoyed arguably his best year winning Richmond's Most Improved award. Once breaking into the side in round 5, White only missed two more game (due to injury) for the rest of the season. Round 15 was in many ways his breakout game, that horrific round when Ellis was subbed off at quarter time :( and White came on and 17 disposals and booting 2.1. After this game, White was not handed the green vest for the remainder of the season and looked set on playing his first final when bad luck strike and he injured his hamstring in the last home & away game of the season and was subbed out, ultimately ending his season prematurely.

When considering his sub effected game, White averaged 41.6 ppg over 8 games, when he managed to go without it he averaged a respectable 16 disp, 4 tackles, 5 marks and 75 DT along with 7.3.

White has made the brilliant decision to move to the power in the hope of a more permanent fixture in the best 21. This year, his pace, line breaking ability and goal nous would have been amazing. Next year, expect him to play as a high half forward/winger

2014 Prediction:
I expect White to be named as a M/F in 2014, kicking 11.6. I would appreciate the opinion of some Richmond supporters. I think that at the age of 26/27 he will thrive at Port similar to Monfries and Ebert in the past two seasons - 75+

ADEZ Verdict:
Considering he will be priced around 300k, he could make a good F5, WATCHLIST

EDIT: If you need convincing on his dash/ability, watch this video (top of page):

I did say the other say that he could be a Gus Monfries like option...

Ricochet

Definitely worth considering if he can go 75+. Would be interested to hear some Port supporters' opinions of where he fits in the side??

As a Richmond supporter, he'd be similar to Kane Mitchell in terms of the way he plays, his strengths and role in the side I would think.

Isn't White more of an impact player?? Mitchell's strength is his running ability and endurance.

I did say similar. :P But yeah, he is. Matt White is quick and can run all day and can really have an impact, which is why I suppose the Tiges used him as sub a bit. But, he played full games too and had equal impact, as indicated by his Most Improved award, he was definitely a guy who had won his way into the team's 22.

Ah ok.

Interested to see who he pushes out of the Port side

Whites endurance is great, probably rivals Mitchell's but he is lightning quick as well - not sure how he compares with Mitchell pace-wise?

Ricochet

Kane Mitchell runs a 16.2 beep test...

White's probably quicker, while K-Mitch could run longer I'd say.

Toga

I dunno about beep tests but I know Matty is a former Cross Country & 400m sprint state champion.. He's decent at any rate :P

tbagrocks

Many of us had Stevenson and Heath, I see this guy doing similar things with the same limited game time, if that

More of a depth player than those two unless he has a big pre-season, but then, someone needs to come out of the 22

Ricochet

I thought that also TBag. But surely he wouldn't come over unless he was promised more game time. Thought that was the reason he left anyways

KoopKicka

tbh, Id think that he would rotate with Andrew Moore until the 2015 season when one will move into Kane Cornes position.
