Jack Gunston is a very smart footballer and at just 21 years of age is a star of the future. He was a terrific contributor in his first season as a Hawk kicking 37.21 from just 16 games. In 2013 he took his game to yet another level kicking 46.17 including his finals series (23 games), this wasn't the only way he improved, his efforts around the ground increased significantly. Despite starting the season slowly kicking 5 goals and averaged 49 DT over his first 5 games, he quickly turned it on post round 6. For the remainder of the season (disregarding his sub game) he averaged 19 touches, 7 marks, 3 tackles and 2.6 goals and 88.4 DT over the remaining 15 games.

He further increased his standing with his terrific finals series where he 11.4 (3 games) with DT games of 106, 101 and 94. Furthermore, barring Lake's saving last quarter he would have added a Norm Smith to his quickly growing name.

So how will he fair without Buddy?
Would be interested to hear the thoughts of Hawks fans.
Personally I don't think it will effect his much at all, he may even be targeted more.

2014 Prediction:
I genuinely think the sky is the limit. He will improve further and enjoy a 50+ goal season and average 90+

ADEZ's Prediction:
I was keen on him prior to his poor game where he had averaged 96.3 over his previous 10 games. Depending upon DPP movements and discounts, he could be a very suitable F4 or F5 and I am considering him as he could increasing his average by 10+.

Great write up ADEZ, will definitely be on my watchlist. I don't think i'll be able to fit him in though because Pavlich, Franklin and Thomas will all be around that price range, but his second half of the year is enticing.

Has to be on a watch list or be considered I think, if he displays his finals form in pre-season, he'll have to be worth a look. #GUNston

Mailman the 2nd

He had a pretty mediocre start of the season but if he can change that he's definitely a look in 2014

That's what I meant.  ;)

Nice write up ADEZ.
Not sure how Buddy leaving will affect him, as he won't get the third best defender anymore. He dominated in the finals and I'm sure teams will put more time into him next year. I'll see how he goes during the pre season before making a decision but at this stage I'd be leaning to not picking him.

First guy I thought of when Buddy left. +kicks +marks +goals +average

Should be under 400k unless the MN rises significantly. Strongly considering.

This is my concern too, will get the number 2 back now rather than the number three. I think he'll still do well especially with his capability of working up to the wings and half back to get marks, wi

Lol you're getting eddie  betts, talk about princesses   ::)  :P You're just annoyed a fair few decent players don't want to play for you.

The hawks are very happy to pick up this "princess" showed his worth in the finals series that you were so convinced hawthorn was going to lose  ::)

Off the top of my head.. Daisy, Rocky, DMart, Wellingham are the only certain starters for me next year so I'm not sure I will fit Gunston in at the start but definitely worth considering.
