Really dangerous precedent set by the AFL on approving the Buddy deal. If I was a recruiter, I'd be offering O'Meara a 15-year contract NOW

Basically, he's saying that if he were running any clubs wanting to keep talent (e.g. Jesse Hogan, O'Meara etc.) that they'd just offer them 15 year contracts, even if they didn't end up playing 15 years.

Of course, that logic is extremely flawed, but let Damian have his week long spotlight

No doubt in terms of higher money contracts and longer deals between 5-10 years, but I certainly think Barrett is exaggerating when he thinks that 18 year olds will be getting lifelong deals

Exactly. Why would someone like Omeara sign a 15year deal at lets guess $500k/yr, when more than likley in 3years time he might get $600k and in 6years could be worth $1m as the best player in the league??

But no team is going to offer him 15 years and $12M today
