Age: 29 at the start of next season
2012: 22 games at 112.4 DT
2013: 19 games at 98.5 DT
2013 scores:
113  143  65  107 109   54  112  119  122   85  77  96  122  BYE  16  INJ  INJ  INJ 113  120  121   104  74

Season 2013:
Well this man requires no introduction. Last years Brownlow medallist led the Bombers against adversity in season 2013 in the most honourable fashion. Where the majority of the playing group succumbed to the pressure he persevered.
In a DT perspective, his mid-year collarbone injury is a blessing in disguise (in DT sense) as it dropped his season averaged to <100 at 98.5. If his injury affected game (16 points) was disregarded his average season statistics look like:

  • 28.8 disp
  • 4 marks
  • 3.3 tackles
  • 0.9 goals
  • 103 DT
Therefore, Watson will be under-priced by 4.5 points (approx. $23,000)
He was relatively consistent (but not overly) making the ton 2 out of 3 games ~ he can be forgiven considering the circumstances he was playing in ::)
Had a tidy ceiling of 143 and surpassed 120 points 40% he tonned.
Had a paltry low of 54 against GWS (offcourse)

2014 Prediction:
I believe that Essendon will leave the past where it belongs and strive to earn the respect of the AFL. In succession, I can see Watson getting close to his highs of 2012 being at the prime age of 29 to play his best football and I don't see the possible inclusion of a player such as NDS affecting him too much ~ 105 - 110

ADEZ's Verdict:
With so many good options in the midfield next season, it will be difficult to find a spot for him with Selwood brothers, Rocky and Beams in serious consideration for me. In saying this, he is under-priced and I will probably make room for him out of sheer respect

Captain Fantastic, the second best player in the game, will improve his average, unsure whether it'll be enough to break his way into my side.

110 average, second Brownlow, a Norm Smith and to captain a premiership in 2014 imo.

Vinny

Absolute gun, I have nothing but respect for this man 8)

Ricochet

Another underpriced gun. Consistently puts up good numbers and is so so reliable. Even through all the shower this year he still performed

Vinny

Imagine what he would do with no shower! :o

Well...less shower. :P

henry

Yeah an absolute superstar no doubt, that 16 (when I had him captain lol) makes him underpriced too. May struggle to fit him in to my starting team but will definitely be in there come end of season.

Adamant

Seriously considering starting him next year. Absolute superstar and very reliable.

Also a tad underpriced which is always handy.

Master Q

Definitely considering him, he'll be underpriced for sure.

Nige

Worth considering for sure, could turn out to be quite a popular pick.
