Michael Close: Brisbane Lions

D.O.B:30/7/1994 (Aged 19)
Price: ~108,000
Position: Key Forward

NEAFL Games: 15
NEAFL Average: 64
NEAFL Scores:
48, 55, 37, 69, 53, 73, 68, 74, 88, 83, 57, 48, 49, 81, 80

From the Lions Website:
Michael Close, a tall forward from Harrow in country Victoria, is a true key position player with elite running capability. Described as extremely competitive, the 195cm forward is also able to rotate through the ruck and is an excellent kick. Still raw at age 18, the Lions took Close at Pick No. 32 with a view to developing him into someone who can hold down a forward role.

Summary: Close is a vital part of the Lions future, but he will never going to be 'that' fantasy relevant. I don't think he'll get many games next season, if any, as he develops in the NEAFL. Close is an elite runner, with a beep test of 15.6. Close also seems a bit injury prone, as he missed the first 4 rounds of the season.

Verdict: He'd have to be named round 1 for him to be in my team. Should be good for 2015 though.

Richo's Predicted Average: 60

Is Close the likely JBrown replacement? Or are others ahead of him?

Cornelius, Lisle, Michael (as JB Said), Close and probably someone who I haven't named. They are fighting it out for 2 positions in the forward line after Brown goes.

Just to update the thread after trades etc:

Cornelius has left and Micheal is being groomed as a defender.

Brisbane are looking at post Brown and are developing these players to take over Paine (traded from Pies), Paporone, Close, Lisle and Johhno Freeman. Luke McGuanne was also picked up as a short term fix if needed.

So in summary suspect Close may get games this year if injury strikes or those in front (Lisle, McGuanne and maybe Paine) do not perform
