I think that the reason HMac was traded in was that the Cats expected Ottens to play on for 1 more year, so when he left they weren't quite ready, thus he was brought in to bridge the year (2013) until Dawson Simpson was ready and good to go.  Given how good Simpson was when he did play I can't imagine that HMac will get a game for the Cats if Simpson can get his body right.

Except ottens retired at the end of 2011. Hmac is actually a very solid ruckman. He will be geelongs #1

He's played 8 games in the last 3 years.  He was last a solid ruckman in 2010! He ain't gonne be #1.  Dawson Simpson will be.

Taylor Adams will decide over the weekend which Victorian club is his preferred destination.

The GWS hard nut met with Geelong on wednesday with the cats looming large as a team capable of getting a deal done now that they have put Grand Final Hero Travis Varcoe on the trade table.

Adams has been pursued strongly by Collingwood who want to include him in a deal which would see disgruntled defender Heath Shaw move to the giants.

Richmond and Melbourne have also spoken to Adams but the cats would appear to have an ace in the pack given the 20-year-old grew up in Geelong and played for the Falcons.

Please let it be Geelong that gets the deal done! Would be a real recruiting triumph!

True, having Caddy, Adams, Duncan and co. in the same team would be fearsome in 5 years!

played for the falcons, would think he'd prefer the cats but it sounds like he won't have much of a choice

Agree. If the Cats want him, and I;m sure they do, they are going to have to use a high draft pick as well as a player. GWS are holding all the aces. Personally, I think he's worth a first round draft pick. At least you know what you get.

specky92

Easily worth a first rounder, he was pick 13 in his own draft, IMO, he's around the 7th best player to come out of that years draft

is that including the 17yo selections?

because if not, he's easily top 5 :P

i didn't include the 17yo's, It would have it look like this with the 17yo's

O'Meara
Crouch
Wingard
Mitchell
Smith
Ellis
Greene
Coniglio
Adams

Ziplock

omeara and crouch were this years draft, last years were the gws picks, shiel, treloar, cameron etc.

atm I rate adams above smith, a bit above coniglio, and he's been more consistent than greene and ellis.

you can make the case for wingard and mitchell though :P

specky92

But they came out of 2011, ;) I suppose you would know the GWS boys better, I think we can both agree he's worth atleast collingwood's pick 11
