Sweeet as Hawka.

You going to MC?

Nah, I've already got a trip booked to Melb in January for the tennis so can't afford to go over twice.

I'm quite happy to enjoy it at home where I can drink and carry on to my hearts content.

Went to the 08' Grand Final and saw Hawks win one well before their time, so enough about the hawks.

On the Freo Bandwagon this week! #dockers2013

Now that MrC has brought up the topic of drinking, here are a few rules for the day:

First of all, every Grand Final party needs a copy of the paper with each team's players. As per usual, divide all the players up between the viewers. Every time your player gets a stat, what ever that may be, have a drink. If your player kicks a goal, finish your drink. If you happen to be the lucky bugger that wins the Norm Smith Medal, everyone else must finish their drinks. Simple.

But, this game alone is not enough to satisfy the large number of beer-loving, football-fanatic fans that this great country is oh-so-good at producing, so here are the special rules that apply to everyone playing.

1. Every time Bruce McAvaney struggles to contain his excitement, have a drink.

2. If Bruce McAvaney calls Cyril 'delicious', scull that motherflowering drink, and eat it.

3. If Hayden Ballantyne gets in a fight, have a drink.

4. If he gets knocked the flower out, scull it.

5. Draw an imaginary line up the middle of the room. One side is Team Buddy, and the other Team Roughy. If Buddy kicks a goal, Team Roughy sculls, and if Roughy kicks a goal, Team Buddy sculls. Don't stuff it up.

6. Every time someone mentions it being Fremantle's first Grand Final, have drink.

7. If your selected player is subbed off, you now receive the title of BEER dog. Meaning, if anyone is empty, you grab them another.. and another... and another. AND you may as well scull the rest of yours for your trouble.

8. If your selected player misses a shot on goal and hits the post, drink until you can see the bottom of your can

Who do we see as the defensive matchups for the game?

Freo's forward line will mostly be:
Pavlich (Gibson)
Clarke/Sandi (Lake)
Mayne (Stratton)
Walters (Guerra)
De boer (tagging Hodge or Birchall)
Ballantyne (can't see Hodge or Birchall being the right match-up here. Ballantyne is good at getting in behind the defence so you don't want a zoning defender on him. Burgoyne would be a good matchup for him but he is more important through the middle and up forward.

Thoughts?

Lake will take whoever goes deepest, which may at times be Pav. Gibbo will take the other. Maybe hodge could go on Mayne for a while, leaving stratton on ballantyne, he has the ability to play small. Deboer will go to Birchall, remembering birchall absolutely destroyed freo in our only game against them this season, gathering 37 touches and a goal.

It's ours to lose - like last year! Gulp! :-\

Isolated thunderstorms, hail and scattered showers are forecasted for Saturday, all to clear by early afternoon.
So it'll be wet underfoot, and the ball will be in dispute a lot.. Falls into Fremantle's style of footy I'd say? Hard, slug it out, contested type game, whereas Hawks like the clear weather for good disposal efficiency and quick ball movement.

Still hawks to lose, but Fremantle will play with a lot of confidence, as they are going in as underdogs. Will be a cracker of a game!

Mitchell, Lewis, Hodge, Sewell, Puopolo, Roughead, Guerra, Gibson, Breust and Savage. All have pretty hard heads.

Rioli, Smith, Hill, Burgoyne, Buddy, Birchall move pretty well.

Bookies know best.  ;)

Hmm I don't know if it is very wet it may also take a bit of the effect of freo's pressure off, as it will be more scrappy and contested generally. Don't know how to really say what I'm thinking lol so that may not appear to make any sense at all. Although wet weather certainly isn't our ideal conditions, I think we do pretty well in it.

Definitely looking forward to it, go hawks!

Should move the game to Etihad and close the roof.  Freo doesnt get the crowd numbers so it makes sense  8)

What's the forecast over in the west?

Someone had better walkie talkie that purple bus which should be white by now and tell them to haul ass back home as the game has been moved back to the west.
