Small paragraph in this article.
"However, the Brisbane Lions are also believed to be interested in talking with Martin, the No.3 pick in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft."

Will we be setting ourselves up for another Fevola debacle. Only difference is Martin is 22 so has quite a lot of time left, Do not think we should pay him the $600k salary though. Would be an ideal replacement for Black though.

This would be an awesome midfield Rich, Redden, Rockliff, Martin and Mayes in the future if we chased.

Little torn I think at the moment as the trade being mooted is Longer plus pick.

He is definitely a great player, and will only get better. My only concern is that we already have a number of players who can play in both the midfield and up forward. Obvious example is Zorko, is gets hardly any mid time even though he can do really well there. Getting Martin would mean less mid time for others, however whether that is a good or bad thing, I don't know.

I do like the look of that midfield though: Rocky, Redden, Martin, Mayes, with other players going in every now and then as well. Honestly, it even looks good without him, but he does make it look that much better :D

Would we want him here over a Betts or Thomas Grazzy?

I dont want Martin. He's what we dont need.

Toga

I think any club with a strong leadership group would be silly not to want him, he's the kind of X-factor a club needs on the field (so long as you can afford him).

That being said, I'm hopeful he'll re-sign with Richmond in the coming days though, one of my favorite players! Would hate to see him in Brisbane (or any other club's) colours! :P

i think all clubs bar a few would be silly to want him. You need a rock solid team to keep him in line, lions with no coach and no direction would be a disatrous fit.

geelong hawks sydney would be the only clubs who could handle him.

Lol this misconception that only some teams have good enough leadership groups for "bad boy" players is a load of BS.
Buddy has had as many issues as Martin, coming from the Hawthorn leadership group.
At Geelong Stokes was arrested for dealing Cocaine, Stevie J was suspended for 6 weeks from the club for off field issues..
Leadership groups and the people around young players are strong at every club.
Martin came second in the Richmond B&F and didnt have an issue all season and that was coming from one of the youngest leadership groups in the comp
