#210
Rory Lobb

Swan Districts 9/2/93 205cm/98kg

Drafted: Round 2, Pick 29 GWS

2013 WAFL Seniors Ave: 70.9
2013 WAFL Reserves Ave: 67.8

Profile

Lobb is very new to the game, having only switched over from basketball a few years ago. The 20 year old ruckman is still developing his game but there are positive signs that he could make an impact in the AFL. Rory played the first half of 2013 in the WAFL reserves before stepping up to the seniors where he averaged 12.2 disposals, 3.3 marks and 24.2 hitouts a game for DT scores of 80, 65, 57, 75, 63, 61, 85, 105, 44, 93, 68 and 60. The indications seem to suggest that Lobb will be taken at some stage during the draft, with Sydney and GWS potentially in the hunt.

Knightmare (BigFooty): Lobb is a young ruckman from a basketball background on the improve and has improved not only as a ruck technician but also in other aspects of his game. He has elite endurance for a ruckman and also has the ability to take some contested marks and use the ball well by but hand and foot and seems to have more time than most others at his height so there are some positive traits to work with at his height but he will need a few years in the system to develop his body and get his game up to an AFL standard.

AFL.com: Developing, athletic ruckman who can take contested marks and is also competent at ground level for his size. Distributes the ball well to his midfielders. Comes from a basketball background and shows deft touch with his ruck work. Has developed the ability to push forward and present an imposing target.

SC Paige: Little known Rory Lobb has only really just burst onto the scene in the past month, and the Giants are desperate for the big basketball convert's services. The strong bodied Lobb is already quite filled out, with a few sources believing he is this year's Brodie Grundy, just without the fan fair and the luxury of coming through an elite system in the state representative sides. Lobb is physical, imposing and offers the ability to push forward as a key target, as well as dominate in the ruck.  Although still a development prospect, Lobb has already held down his own playing nine senior matches for Swan Districts in their senior side, and has showed immense ability to slam the ball down the throat of his on-ballers. Could be taken a lot higher than expected, even with their second pick at pick 19 according to some.

Fantasy Prospects

Very much a project player, but an exciting one. I can't imagine he'd see action in 2014 unless there was a catastrophe but he could be a viable pick some time in the future.

I actually wouldn't be surprised if he got a few games next year MC. Still not going to be that great of a fantasy option just yet though

Mr.Craig

Thanks Nigey. When I can be bothered I'll add those to the player profiles.

Speaking of which, I probably won't do many more profiles until after the draft. I don't want a repeat of last year when I had to delete about a dozen because they didn't get drafted. I should still be able to get most, if not all done by NYE.

Still not sure what to make of Eli.
Yeah, neither do I. A second round option you'd think though.

IIRC, Purple knows him well.
