Haha sorry Noz. Some interesting de-listings there

Im a bit surprised with Blee liked him a lot as a player and Hoskin only given a year at the club maybe will get rookie listed again.

Looking at those delistings its seems obvious we will be targeting an experienced tall in the off season.

Daniel Stewart. :( Matt Thomas. :( <-- He'll be useful elsewhere I think.

I was talking to a mate about what Port might do this off-season, because I was a bit unsure how Port would approach the trade period. I can't see Port being overly active, however two names suddenly came to mind about potential players to pick up.

The first one is Darren Jolly, the second one is Alan Didak. Jolly could be that perfect tall to slot in with Westhoff and Schulz, even though it'll only be for one year, gives Butcher more time to develop, who unfortunately hasn't quite gotten there yet. Didak would make the forward line unstoppable, imagine Port lining up with this next season: Westhoff, Schulz, Jolly, Didak, Monfries, Gray. Ridiculous!

However every good has to have a negative. And that is what happens with Neade and Kane Mitchell? They'll be starved of games if Didak comes, and aren't they the future, the ones that'll be playing in our next flag? The same goes for Butcher, if Jolly comes, how much will Butcher be set back by not playing as much?

The easy option is to give our current crop the crack, even if it means not playing finals next year. :\

I don't think there should be much rush in trade week, 3rd youngest in the comp, and sitting in the top 6 teams, why change anything?

Mr.Craig

I'm a bit disappointed in them dumping Hoskin. Port Adelaide in his blood but just struggled a little this year.

Matty Thomas, Darren Pfeiffer, Nathan Blee, Justin Hoskin, Danny Butcher, Daniel Stewart and Nick Salter all were delisted today.
Blee is a tiny bit surprising, saw the rest coming.

Matt Thomas to the Tiges!  ;)

Blee is a little supprising I agree. Matt Thomas I could see coming, but always liked his tough approach, so a little sad, in a way. As others have stated, maybe does't suit the game plan, but still, I liked his aggression at the ball

7 delistings maybe suggests Port are preparing to trade picks for players?

One of the spots will taken by Mitchell being upgraded from the rookie list won't it?

Noz

Yeah Mitchell should be elevated now that his the last remanning rookie we have left.

I'm sorry man but I personally agree with your latter statement. I think Didak would be the biggest waste of space for our team. He's been useless for the last few seasons and worst of all he's old. I think this will be impossible (and I don't think Hinkley is going to be interested in this trade or many trades) but I'd prefer it if Port pursued Dustin Martin rather than signed Didak (I think he is more of a liability because you can't tell whether he'll even play a game and worst of all that is a potential 18 year old rookie that could've been in that position (remember the Hoff was #76 pick, some great players come later in the draft) and as you mentioned Neade & Mitchell :) (both have been fantastic POD players). I honestly wouldn't mind Jolly though but only to fill in until Redden returns (Lobbe has been a champion though and will probably be better off with minimum help). But Jolly in the I/C as a tall forward utility or fill in ruck to free Westhoff up a bit more would add nominal benefit (as long as he hasn't had any recent injury because I'm under the impression he lost his job because of Grundy) but like you said it's not a short term solution, it's a short term idea (because atm we are not in the need for any solutions, because we are the best team  :P ). But I agree with you completely, there's nothing wrong with the players we have now but I also agree that it still is an idea that is worth the thought :) I had other players in mind but I think your last paragraph is right on the money :) and I think we will make the top 8 next year, we have a fantastic team as is and we can compete with anyone this season and defeat anyone imo (excluding. Geelong, Hawks & Freo). I still hope to see some interest in Dustin Martin by Port Adelaide thought just because of the fact it's Dustin Martin (every team should be throwing their bids in) :)

With the interchange being capped next year there's no place for Didak and Jolly both who will struggle to get game time and just be a waste.

haha yeah, chase D-Mart is my suggestion to the team but I think Hinkley won't want him anyway. He is the sort of coach who makes the best out of what he has

Noz

Yeah i don't see us being big players in the trade period we have a pretty good young core of players and adding another 4-5 young players to that list will be great.

Anyone reckon we will pick Hayden Jolly up? Ex Gold Coast player linked to us last year don't exactly no how he went this year but just another inside mid to help Wines out?

Yeah he did. Played 16 games for them and averaged 23.5 disposals a game (13.69 kicks, 9.81 handballs), and apart from that didn't do much else according to the stats... Only 1.31 tackles a game and just the 5 goals...
