Hey boys just wondering what peoples thoughts are on
getting daisy into carlton I,m for it as I think he will be a
really good add to our midfield, only if this injury isn't
going to be an on going thing though. He is a very good
player has a good relationship with malthouse I think its
a done deal just hope we don't pay overs for him and as
I said the injury isn't ongoing

Vinny

Yes, I would like Daisy too. :)

The fact that he is "injury prone" is not a huge worry.

But is he worth 650k?!

Mat0369

Simply put

He is injured, over priced and overrated.

Yup.

Plus they don't expect him to play for the majority of next year and for anywhere near 600k that is just f'ing stupid.

kilbluff1985

You will usually always have to pay overs to get a player to move clubs people should get use to it

Vinny

Yes 600k is stupid.

But I reckon we could do good with him.

Oh yeah without a doubt, look at the NFL. Albert Haynesworth is the perfect example. He got a 100 million dollar contract and never lived up to the hype since he was a fat lazy prick with disciplinary issues. If Carlton want to become the Washington Redskins of the AFl, signing Daisy will be the first step. Free Agency won't win a team a premiership, it will backfire more times then it will work, the smart teams draft well and build from within. Going after an overrated injured player and giving him top elite talent money is the first way to send your team up ish creek.

Where did you hear he will be out all of next year?

kilbluff1985

Wouldn't call 600k top elite money when you look at what it cost to move GAJ, Tippett and possibly Buddy

Just to be clear I agree its to much just saying that yeah have to pay overs to move players if its the best thing to do or not

Least Mick knows Daisy better then most coaches would when trading in a player

Triple M Rush Hour yesterday, they were talking to Damo and Chief about it. The initial prognosis the doc gave him was that he would be back the tail end of next year. The Pies were not happy with that and had a look around and eventually got one that said he might have some form of a pre season which is still highly doubtful. His ankle is F'ed and he didn't get surgery on it to fix the problem, they are hoping that a rest will fix it.

They also said that the Hawks had been speaking to him, but the Hawks have met with all the free agents that are on the market. They are doing their due diligence to try and figure out the market value of all the guys available.

Marc Murphy would be our top player, I would say he makes around that in a year, the Cats top 2 players are Selwood and Taylor, they are both reportedly on around 650k which is what Daisy is expecting. When you look at GC and GWS, they have the cash to pay big money for Gaz and Buddy, the Hawks on the other hand don't. Carlton are trying to build a team for a premiership tilt, paying a guy 600-650k you are effectively burning the cap space that a top end team would use to sign a top end player

I found the podcast

http://www.triplem.com.au/melbourne/shows/rush-hour-with-james-brayshaw-and-billy-brownless/podcasts/

It is for Wednesday the 11th, wait for it to load or download it, then skip forward to the 48.20 mark where they bring up the Pies. They talk about the guys they delisted/culture before they get to Daisy at the 49.50 mark

I'd love him at my club! Would take a serious offer to lure him though... Would those $$ be better spent on a key forward at Carlton? :-X

Lachie Henderson will play forward next year. Solid key defenders are easier to find then really good key forwards. Carlton have a really good key forward, the problem is he is All Australian possibly at CHB. The new Human Head Matthew Watson is likely to get a chance at locking down a key post in defense next year meaning the Blues can shift Hendo forward which will essentially fill that void in the forward line. They are better off using the cash to try and lure a solid key defender in FA or through a trade. Two names that have been thrown around are Josh Bruce and Luke Delaney, Carlton are looking at both along with the Saints and a couple of other clubs. This will allow them to use Hendo as a permanent forward along with Waite and then either have Casboult/Hampson/Rowe/Kreuz as the resting ruck up forward. It just depends who they offload out of Warnock and Hampson, but if the Blues are looking at building options for the future they should persist with Casboult. He has excellent hands but his kicking is pretty ish house. I read Staker was also down at Carlton today, not sure why and how he would fit into the structure.
