N Melbourne has taken Luke McDonald as a father son player with its rd 1 pick (currently 8), after matching West Coast's bid with pick 6.

Smart move Eagles makes them use the 1st round instead of 2nd.

it is, but im sure they would have loved to have picked him at 6 so this is still a big win.

Brisbane were also going to take him at 7 so either club would have forced North to use first round pick and he is definitely worth an early pick.

roo boys!

Yeah was always going to happen I think, 2nd round would have been an absolute steal.

Wow that sucks pretty bad for North fans... :-\

Its not too bad we would have had to pass up on Luke Mcdonald.

imgaine if we somehow got Kelly and Mcdonald in the same year.

insane midfield.

You could've had both of them if they were both father son.

From my knowledge if you use your highest pick available then you auto get him
Yeah exactly. That's how the Doggies ended up getting both Wallis and Libba in the same draft. Both had bids placed on them before the Doggies would take a pick but still got both.

Also just a question, but considering North want to take McDonald with their second round pick, could they not trade their first round pick to some other club for some player and then they would get to use their second round pick, plus pick up a handy player through trading...
What an excellent draft for the Doggies that was.

Insane, but slightly unrealistic haha, never looked like we'd be able to snare both in this draft. I guess we'll have to be content with what we've got!

Well then...

North Melbourne have tabled pick 26 and Luke Delaney for Nick Dal Santo.

Which means Saints have told NDS they are parting ways i guess...
Scott said North will only table an offer once they get told whether NDS is staying or going

I think Dal was getting increasingly annoyed with the Saints not telling him whether they wanted him or not. He'll be a Kangaroo in 2014.

feeling very good about next year.

our old guys in petrie and boomer will still be right up the top will get improvement from some of uour younger guys and NDS is a star.

the only bad thing is swallow.

Contrary to media reports, North Melbourne has not offered Luke Delaney and pick 26 for St Kilda midfielder Nick Dal Santo, says CEO Carl Dilena.

Well that got squashed quickly

Saints look they aren't going to hand him to you guys on a silver platter. I think he's going to stay a Saint. Delaney for Dal won't be enough. Dal has some good football left. Top 3 Brownlow twice. Delaney has potential and youth on his side but is a depth player at the Roos. Dal for Delaney is not enough considering the Saints don't have to trade. If the Roos want him they will need to offer up. Pick 26 may be the sticking point.
