Channel 7 are reporting that Heath Shaw has told his manager that he wants to play for Geelong, and that Taylor Adams wants to reunite with under 16 AFL-AIS Coach, Nathan Buckley at Collingwood.

Channel 7 have reported that there could be a three-way deal between the Pies, Cats and Giants.

Collingwood would send Shaw to Geelong, the cats would then forward on their first round pick to GWS and the pies would receive Adams.

that feels to me like a loss by giants...

Yes, they've quite clearly stated they don't want picks

.... is it really a case that nobody wants to live in western Sydney?

Ricochet

Or maybe more the fact nobody wants to put in 5 years before they are a premiership shot. Buddy chose Sydney for that reason.

I honestly think we're only about 3 years away from being able to challenge for the premiership :P

but, it's not western sydney- the giants actually live in the city city, and train in homebush.

I just find it strange that the Giants haven't been able to entice one superstar to their list. Some good players for sure like Ward (a future star) and Scully (potential star), but thought a Pendles/Buddy/Goddard/Cloke would've gone...

We made pretty big plays for all those players, but yeah, none really came over...

I think Richo made the right point.
There are not too people willing to go from a team challenging for a flag to a team who at best is 3 years away (but more likely 4-6)

I always said we'd be playing finals by 2014/2015, and I really think that even by 2015 we'll be a threat in finals.

the step up from 14-18 to 9-13 is big enough as it is but the next step to inside the 8 is huge. Look at teams as good as North, Carlton and even Adelaide this year. Good teams but still not good enough to make the top 1-8. Gold Coast are still 3-4 years off finals and GWS are 4-5

Gold Coast will play finals in 2015!

Crows went from bottom 4ish in 2011 to top 4 in 2012, the Eagles from last to 5th...

The Suns will push for the finals in 2014, 2015 is very likely IMO

Not with a young list though.
Crows made finals in 2009 and 11th in 2010.
Eagles were 11th in 2009 and had a million injuries in 2010.

The jump from the 2nd tier to 1st tier with a young list is massive.
