WITH ITS second season in the book, Greater Western Sydney has begun the task of culling its list, with Setanta O'hAilpin, Bret Thornton and Gerald Ugle among five players delisted on Wednesday.

South Australian Josh Growden and rookie-listed New South Welshman Joe Redfern have also been delisted after failing to crack the senior team.

The club also announced on Wednesday that retired Giants Chad Cornes and Dean Brogan will become full-time assistant coaches at the club.

I don't even remember Thornton playing a game of the Giants, was he injured at all this year? I guess they just picked him up for depth.

Given St Kilda's lack of defensive talls he may see it as a good opportunity for him moving forward.

he's got a reasonable opportunity at the giants as well :P

Like I can understand moving clubs... but you'd think he'd try for a club that isn't going to be blowing as much as the giants for the next few years :P

He's competing with Davis, Mohr, Plowman, jaksch and Corr for future spots in the Giants defense. Less competition at the Saints particularly if Fisher leaves.
