If Freo had gotten top 2 they should've got a home final at Freo Oval...

If that was there home game, than yes they should!

The real question isn't why the home final is being played at Geelong - but why other clubs let the AFL rail-road them into playing home finals at venues other than there homes.

I don't understand, its Geelong's home ground, why shouldn't it be there if they had a choice....
If the decision was made before the start of the season, and Kardinya Park was granted a finals option, there would be no excuse. But this decision was made AFTER the final eight was made up.
The Fatman had made a wrong decision, and this is truly a Victorian club advantage.
I think it yet again proves that the AFL is not really the AFL but still the VFL in disguise.Run by Victorians for the benefit of Victoria, >:( >:(

There is this option but that means leaving on Thursday and having to spend a few days in Melb/Geelong

Those prices are actually quite reasonable. But unfortunately I cannot take Thursday AND Friday off work. Plus when you tack on the cost of accommodation for those extra days, it becomes a bit speno.

And you still have to organise your own flight home as well.

Nah, I reckon the AFL would love for Freo to win a flag rather than the Cats. With the amount of money spent on Gold Coast and GWS, at the expense of struggling Victorian (and interstate) clubs, I think that's a hard argument to make.

Or North Fremantle (where I played on the weekend)

So if Geelong happen to be paying Port in the semi next week, are we going to Geelong, as that is where we play them during the H&A season.

or how about a Geelong vs Sydney prelim? They play all their matches at Simmonds, will we play that match there too?

I don't get it, If Geelong played ALL of their Home games at that place then fair enough, but when they play home matches at the MCG and Etihad I do not think they can use Simmonds in a final over those two.
