I don't understand, its Geelong's home ground, why shouldn't it be there if they had a choice....
Then shouldn't sydney also get to play their home finals at the SCG?

Yep, they should.

Ossie, think about how many people miss out on going to the game because of this. It would be like Essendon playing Collingwood at Etihad in a final just because Etihad is their home ground

Only the MCC members will miss out, and they've got 3 other games to go to.
And I wouldn't mind playing essendon at etihad if they earnt the home game

Are you serious? A lot more than just the mcc members will miss out. Geelong holds 33,000. There will be a lot of Geelomg supporters missing out and there will be almost no freo supporters able to get tickets.
And I would say you would be the only Collingwood supporter that wouldn't mind playing Essendon at Etihad. It would be a joke

The fact is, it's not about getting to play at your home ground. You earn the right to play in your home state, not home ground.

If 10000 freo supporters come down theyll all get tickets, itll mostly be geelong supporters miss out

I agree with os, geelong have earned the right to play at home, so if they want to the  why shouldnt they

Did not happen in 2004 when lions had to play Prelim final at MCG rather than Gabba, Agree that if team is entitled to home final should have one. Was announced today that if GC Suns makes the finals then it will be played at Merticon rather than Gabba.

While the Cats should get a HGA, it is a lot worse for the fans. Simonds will be packed for this game, and that will only be Geelong fans that will be there. What Freo supporter is going to fly down to Melbourne, then make the trip down to Geelong?

But, I think the Lions showed yesterday that it is possible to beat the Cats at home. Dockers are still a decent chance when they recall 12 players this week.

JBs-Hawks

Why cant Hawthorn play Sydney in Launceston? ::)

tbagrocks

Let me just say that Ross is luckier than Micky this week! Ok the  lues scraped in by a point, also the crows missed out by a point ::)

But a point also saved Freo HUGE face yesterday! What if the Lions won :o  And silly ol Lyon tanked and cost his team a home final in Perth instead of rural Geelong!!

Wow Freo were lucky to escape imo! Heads would have had too role otherwise!

I think you overestimate the number of fans that will come across anyway. Freo are guaranteed a home final in week 2 or 3, I'm not sure 10000 fans would spend the thousands of dollars to go. Hell, half of the freo team don't travel :P

Ossie - If they game was playing in Melbourne then a heap of Freo members/supporters would have travelled - myself included.  I am not coming now due to being in Geelong.  I know of a lot of people that are now no longer going due to game in Geelong.

+1. I was contemplating it, but not now. flower going to Geelong. Would've loved a lil weekend holiday in Melbourne with a game to watch.

There is this option but that means leaving on Thursday and having to spend a few days in Melb/Geelong
